I have a thing for small tools, especially ratchets.

What is the adapter? From the photo it looks like the ratchet is 1/4" hex, but the adapter turns it into a 1/4" square socket drive. Is that correct?

I think so. It looks like a 1/4" hex drive to 1/4" square drive adapter to me.

Get this Sunex kit instead, the sockets make all the difference. This is the most commonly used tool set in my household, I’ve purchased 5 of them now. have one in each vehicle, one in my desk at work, etc. I can fix a bicycle, swap out a car battery, or just about anything else with this.
