Those Felo wood handled screwdrivers are very good. The shaft goes all the way through the handle, and you can wack them with a hammer if needed. Good for all around household stuff.

I don’t have the wood handled ones, but I do have a couple of other Felo drivers, and they’re fine!

While the wooden handles won’t be as durable as some, they will still be a vast improvement on some of the soft handled stuff that’s around, so I’d go for it if you like them. At $18 above, you can’t go wrong!

I seem to recall that the tips are ground to different sizes on these, compared to most metric drivers (I suspect it’s an old DIN size, rather then the more modern ISO metric). Might be worth bearing this in mind.

Personally, I prefer the Felo drivers with the hard red handle, the 200 series shown below. I have a couple of these in my own ‘household maintenance’ box, and they’re perfect for that! They’re not costly either!

I have a set and use them exactly as you are wanting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your purchase.

Does Felo make two different shapes of the wooden handles or is that just a bad pic?

Edit..

Seems like they're a love them or hate them kind of thing. If I wasn't already knee deep in screwdrivers I'd buy them.

I don't have them yet but I sometimes visit them when I shop at Fleet Farm. Can't believe my will power has lasted so long. Haha.

The photo is probably out of date. The 2012 Felo catalog shows images of both shapes. I've only seen the one in your photo.

I searched Ebay.de and apparently the shape of the handle has changed over the years. Same model number.

I'm knee deep in screwdrivers too but I have never had good wooden screwdrivers so I kinda want them for that reason. Just something cool about wooden screwdrivers.

The best wood handled screwdrivers were the old Stanley ones from the 60’s and before. I have no idea what the steel was, but I have never found anything like it.

As regards modern ones, the Nepros probably win for total quality. The Felo will be pretty close, for much less money!

I also like the PPC handles. Sooo comfy.

Sounds like the screwdrivers made by the old Hurwood company. Great screwdrivers.

I have them to use in the wood shop, regular ones for the metal shop. Both are very good.

Funny, these would probably end up eventually replacing some Stanley Fat Max Demolition drivers I have. I have a set of 6 but they aren't made anymore as far as I know. I absolutely love them but the only problem is the acetate is getting to the age where they stink up the drawer,

What's not to love about Felo's wooden handled screwdrivers?
german blades, strike through handle, comfortable easy to grip wooden handle, :dunno:

I'm armpit deep in screwdrivers and I still grabbed a few of the wooden handled screwdrivers for home use when they were on sale a black Friday or two ago.

I have the set the OP posted the link of. I use them for non greasy stuff and I think they are a great set of screwdrivers. The handles have a good feel in your hand and the tips bit into the screws.

The only issues are limited tip options (no square/hex/torx) and too-low pricing. If they quintupled the price more people would recognize their inherent excellence. Unfortunately too many people are biased by the low price and can’t get over it.

I get a lot of confidence when a company forges a hex on the shaft. Promoting a hammer on the end is over the top. Then sell them for a fraction of the competition is just too much. Downright scary.

Very similar!

The ones that I was thinking of are the ones shown below. These were made in the U.K. by Stanley, at one of their Sheffield factories I believe.

The steel seems to be some sort of spring steel as it’s incredibly tolerant of abuse.

I think these were probably the U.K. equivalent of the Hurwood drivers, but I think in the U.S. there was a later pattern of wooden handled driver. In the U.K. there never was, so these continued for some years!

Those Ergonic drivers are incredibly soft though. Probably too soft as the outer part of the handle can rotate under torque!

I think I would prefer the wood!

For general automotive work the wood probably is not the best option because the wood becomes slightly slippery with any introduction of oily substances.

The soft grip version stays very manageable with grease/oil on hands.

I'll second that AB, they're nice straight out of the box but sanding down the handles and a quick wipe or two with linseed oil and they're incredible! Menards is the place to buy them from, they're drop shipped direct from Bondhus. I have the Vessel woody's as well and they really nice too. I love Vessel's tips and the wood fiber composite handles give a good grip even without the ergonomic shape of the Felo's. Which you'd like better is going to come down to personal preference but the Felo's are great screwdrivers, they're not a purchase you'll likely regret.

The Felo's replaced my Mac drivers by a mile. Sand and oil the handles, they lock up tight in hand.
