When I moved in, we replaced a small metal fence with a wooden fence behind our trash cans, and we generally enjoyed it (Despite being poorly constructed! Used an existing post there, and it was my first ever time building a fence)

Since then we got a generator installed, pool removed, drains installed. Through those tasks, the fence ended up removed, and the path around the garage became very convenient to walk around. Here is what it looks like now

I don't mind it being open, but I don't like the backyard being viewable from the street (And I'm not sure I want to make my driveway gate opaque

I'm trying to figure out the best design for a fence/gate. Any ideas?

Would you keep the trash cans behind the fence? I feel like it should be, but then I need to be able to easily get the trash cans back out to put them on the street

Shrubbery and some cedar or Leyland cypress strategically placed?

I have often thought of changing my yard access gate to metal panels. I thought having them "wrapped" with a bush motif. This would sort of 1684709571065.pnghide the gate. My neighbour has complained about my Wells Cargo Car Hauler. I have enquired about having it wrapped in a floral design.
Our Hydro supplier has wrapped the power boxes.

I'd build the same fence but flush with the front of the garage and add a man door.

I'd do a double gate. Trash can goes out just one open. For more access. the 2nd opens. Because of better support I'd hang the active gate on a jamb board bolted to the house and the other on a new post dug in next to the fence. No reason to not let the inactive gate rest on a block in the ground for support and an anchor point for a lower pin. A small rubber wheel will keep the wood off the ground and barely skim the grass if you use it.
