Fender Covers

So, I've got a thing for fender covers. Used to be able to get em everywhere. They would give them away as promo's at: tool sales, vendor demonstrations, etc. So I've managed to collect quite a few over the years, but they all crack and start to come apart eventually. I've got 6 that are regularly used, and several that I keep either: put up, or in the rotation to be used. But haven't had very good luck, as of late, finding any NEW and innovative fender covers. I'm sure I'm probably the only person in the world that still uses fender covers, so I don't get the best luck with the tool truck guys. I guess they've got to order in bulk, and no one buys em(except me). Just wondered if it's the same story in the rest of the world?, or is the rest of the world just hiding them from me? I can find the plain Jane, run'o the mill, every day stuff. Just not the cool designed, funky, haven't seen that before type of stuff.

good question, I'm down to 1 fender cover that isn't all nasty. most of mine are 20+ yrs. old...they must sell them some where...I use a lot of old beach towels the wife throws out too but do prefer the vinyl fender covers...

maybe we could do another Group Buy with custom GJ logo?!?!

Start checking estate sales and yard sales. Never thought they would be there. I actually found a set of STP ones in the trash still in the bags thats right new. Some guy threw them away. I might have an edge I drive trash truck that is where I got my last 2 sets. Brand new in the bag STP and Napa sets. Guys must have been salesmen for these places.

I think the really cool looking ones aren't made any more.

Back when MAC tools sponsored the Gatornationals, they would come out with special themed colored fender covers and tools. I haven't seen them in years.
Another factor might be that a lot of the speed parts don't put out as much swag as they used to.

There are those places that make custom fender covers still that cling to a cars surface. perhaps you can't something special there.

I still use fender covers but, they're the cloth type that I use binder clips to attach to the car whenever doing upper engine work. Definitely nothing fancy or high speed though.

I stopped working on my engines back when Skynet took over our cars, but I still wanted a fender cover just in case.

The MG/Triumph is just wall art now. The foam backing disintegrated. The MAC one has a rubber backing that's still good, but the vinyl is starting to show some age.

There are a lot of tools/items that used to be common, but are now fossils. It's a shame.

I do not use mine very often either but as you said handy when you do. You are right HF quit selling them I even looked again and no dice must not of been a big enough seller for them.

removable washable back, magnetic strips and hooks to hold them in place. Different sizes for huge or very small fenders. The seat covers are fantastic By far the best i think i will ever use.

The owner Clint Crick travels around the country selling to shops. he stopped by and we were sold. He has links to alot of videos and was on Leno's garage a long time back.

I always used cloth covers, still have a couple left that get regular use......I never really liked the vinyl/foam ones, my tools always slid off.

To clean the cloth ones rub some hand cleaner into the grease/oil spots then toss into the washing machine, they come out like new!

No fancy logo'd fender covers for me. The best ones I've found are a bath towel followed by a bath mat. It doesn't slide around and the thick knap on the mat holds the biggest and smallest tools/nuts/bolts/etc and the thickness of the mat gives total protection to the fender.

I too still use fender covers. I have been using some red cloth ones that I just have my wife launder once in a while but my favorites are my old ones. I have a nice thick MAC one that has almost a foam type of backing that I love. I also have a couple of older Snap-On ones and a Matco one that I really like, that are a softer vinyl material but are starting to get a few cracks in them from the past 20+ years of use.

I know Jegs and Summit racing are always asking me at the end of an order if I would like to purchase a promotionary fender cover with their logo on it, but I have no idea of the quality nor material of them. I can't see them being too awfully nice of quality for $6.95/each though.

I keep a vinyl fender cover (with a foam-like back) folded up under the passenger side front mat in my 4x4 truck. The truck is my oldest and tallest vehicle, and therefor the one most likely to need it. I keep a few rags in every vehicle, and wipe down the back before using it.

I've been using yoga mats that I picked up cheap at Menard's. They are made out of the same stuff as some fender covers. They are twice the size so they can actually cover most of a fender. They also stay put pretty well.

I use bath towels. I've sewn Velcro loops into them in locations where I can attach them to items under the hood (brackets, harnesses, etc.).

Ive got a set of Wilmar/ProPerformance ones that my wifey installed rare earth magnets into reinforced seam pockets. Works well and they don't slide around.

I was lucky enough to get three of these Facom non
magnetic wing proectors a few years ago for a nice price.
They are flippin expensive at normal price though.

Bring up an old thread, I was wondering if anyone has experience with Netcore Enterprises fender covers.

They are expensive but look like they hold to the car very well. In the past I have been using large microfiber towels or bath towels and then put a rubber cover over the towel. I found doubling up the fender cover like this keeps the grease off the towels.
