Hello, I have put in 2 new lights in my garage, which has made me pay more attention to the wiring. I have a few questions about how to do a few things. First, there is light-bulb up on the ridge of my garage,would it be okay to could I remove the light and run the wire down to my shop so I could use it as an outlet? I have to use and extension cord and a power strip to get any power in the shop so I would be a lot more comfortable with an actual outlet.
Second is that there are two wires I would like to disconnect, one outlet up in the rafters that does not work and a live wire that someone cut that used to power outside lights. Can I just remove them from the light switch and junction box respectively?
