Few Race Deck Questions

I'm strongly considering this product for a new garage. A few questions if I may. Do the tiles "creak" or make any noise when a car is entering the garage or when walking across the floor? Do insects, moisture (water) and general debris make their way under the deck or do the end pieces seal out such things? Can moisture seep thru the tiles onto the concrete? Can the tiles be shop vacuumed without scratching or harmed? Lastly, is there a beveled or angled transition piece that "fronts" the garage overhead door so as to provide a seamless roll over for your vehicles and does that piece seal out cold leaks and such from the outside area? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Spike-
I will try to answer some of your questions ( though you will find a lot of info and feedback throughout the site on RaceDeck flooring as well as others)

I answered your questions within your post in BOLD letters for easy reading

"I'm strongly considering this product for a new garage. A few questions if I may. Do the tiles "creak" or make any noise when a car is entering the garage or when walking across the floor?RACEDECK-ALL FLOORS MAKE A NOISE, SO THE ANWER IS YES BUT I AM NOT SURE IT CREAKS. WE HAVE UNDERLAYMENTS AND/OR CAN RECOMMEND UNDERLAYMENTS TO HELP QUITE THE FLOOR. Do insects, moisture (water) and general debris make their way under the deck or do the end pieces seal out such things? RACEDECK- THE SEAMS BETWEEN THE TILES ARE PRETTY TIGHT AND THIS KEEPS MOST DRIPPING LIQUIDS OUT ( HYDROSTATIC TENSION). THE FLOOR IS DESIGNED TO 'BREATH' ALLOWING AIR TO FLOW UNDERNEATH. CONCRETE IS LIKE A SPONGE AND LEACHES OUT MOISTURE FOREVER. THE MATERIAL RACEDECK IS MANUFACTURED FROM DOES NOT PROMOTE MOLD OR MILDEW. Can moisture seep thru the tiles onto the concrete? Can the tiles be shop vacuumed without scratching or harmed?RACEDECK - YES. YOU CAN ALSO SIMPLY SNAP OUT A TILE OR SECTON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FLOOR IF NEEDED. Lastly, is there a beveled or angled transition piece that "fronts" the garage overhead door so as to provide a seamless roll over for your vehicles and does that piece seal out cold leaks and such from the outside area? JORGEN- MOST PEOPLE RUN THE EDGING RIGHT UP TO THE RUBBER STOP UNDER THE DOOR AND THIS DOES THE TRICK. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Our edges are beveled ( ramped) for easy rolling on and off the floor. They come standard 3" width. though we have 1" edges as well ( not recommended)

For areas where you are concerned about moisture accumulating you might want to go with the RaceDeck tile that is "open". Can't recall the tile name right now. I used it in my basement under the washing machine and in the closets where moisture can be a problem.
If I were designing a garage floor where I would be driving a car inside I might use the above product so moisture can drip off the wheels and then evaporate.
I do not drive my car in the garage so I used solid tiles all around. Excellent product and good cusotmer service.
When the tiles are cold they make a bit of a clunking sound when I walk on tehm but it's not objectionable. The basement is warm with little temperature fluctuation and the tiles down there are nice and quiet.

Yes, I actually have radiant heating in my garage here in Utah. Actually radiant heated floors might work best in our types of climate as the temperature is much more constant.
TIP* you should store your floor in the garage for a day prior to installing allowing the floor to acclimate.

I also have heated gargage floors and that is what is holding me back right now on the racedeck? solid tiles look much better than the free-flow ones but will the solid tiles keep the heat from rising verses the free-flow.

Excuse me, but not "ALL FLOORS MAKE A NOISE".

Walking across a garage/shop floor should NOT creak. Bare concrete, epoxy coated, and/or tiled don't "creak" or make noise.

One other "noise" consideration about flooring is the sound when something drops on them. For example, that detent ball/circlip/nut/washer is likely to go TINK-TInk-tink on concrete/epoxy/tile. Not so much on hard plastics/laminates.

They always manage to find their way under the heaviest obstacle or most inaccessible place you can imagine ... sometimes the "tink" helps (not that I would have personal experience mind you ;) )

I have Racedeck flooring in my garage. I have had rain/snow just sit on top of the tiles so I can mop it up. Only time I have seen anything really seep thru the cracks is when my oil gauge line ruptured and I lost 2 quarts of oil. Some of it seeped under the tiles. Easy to pull up tiles to clean it up though. And it does make a "clacking" noise but it does not bother either my wife or I. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I installed a cheap laminate floor underlayment. Taped it all up and put the Racedeck down over the top. Quiet as a mouse.

I love it.

Everybody makes a big deal of the noise but I laid my floor down and had it down for several weeks before a friend came over and mentioned it, my wife and I had not noticed the noise until he said it. The only time I really hear the noise is when my daughters rat (ok, small dog) comes in and he really needs his nails trimmed.

I moved my floor to my new house and there was nothing under the old floor that had been down for about 8 years (best guess) so no insects lived under there.

Of course any floor 'makes a noise' (unless you live in a vacuum). Bare concrete makes a 'noise'. The noise occurs when an object strikes it. Tennis shoes will make a different noise compared to a high heel, etc.

Racedeck does make a noise, it is more noticeable than bare concrete. Its not annoying however. I have had my floor for a year and am still quite happy with it.

racedeck looks SOOOO nice

unfortunately i cannot afford it, and i only have a small 1 car garage...

with the work i do on hydraulics and things that leak oil etc all the time and the fact that im ALWAYS on my back workin on my car i would gladly cut off a few toes or do just about anything else to have this flooring... but it seems like its too expensive for the average joe... sorta a heart breaker every time the topic comes up

I was just on the racedeck site for about 10 mins and could not find a price. I am interested for my office. The painted floor looks terrible.

Here's a video of me walking on RaceDeck Diamond I did for a client's 1000 s.f. showroom. And, this was with the room empty. No click clack.

Here's a design studio for a sign shop client. They love it for it's insulating properties, little bit of suspension, and ease of cleaning should they spill ink or anything else.
