The tooth count is part of the actual ratchet head. They are different and not interchangeable.

Dual 80 hasn't been out all that long, 9-10 years I think. Prior to that was the age of 36 tooth ratchets and cavemen.

Show us a pic of what you actually received. Now that the new FHKFD80's are out in all 9 hard handle colors I'm sure the old 936 stubby flex head won't command the ridiculous prices they used to but they are still an awesome ratchet.

Do you have any pictures available since I have both the new dual 80 and older fk836 model and the difference mainly is a pin vs torx screw minus the heads too but I don't recall a 936 in this style which had torch screw and went away from pin in which you can swap head from any flex head dual 80

it does have the torx bolt to just be able to change out heads and if i could get a part number for a head i would order one and stick that head on a different handle. After all i can't be mad at anyone but myself for not reading properly. Also never take the damn guts out of the 36 tooth that ball bearing is a ***** to put back in especially after it goes flying across the floor about 10 times. Again sorry if this was talked about last week i did a quick google search and didn't see anything.

Your best bet is to find any 3/8 dual 80 flex and swap out the head assembly itself by removing torx screw but be careful of spring

But keep this in mind the 936 is the last to come in 1/2 in 3/8 body which can be more useful than 3/8 fine tooth for you

so your saying i could put a 1/2 head in this 3/8 body? If that is the case i like that idea alot i since i dont have a 1/2 flex head.

Then i can just order a new flex head 3/8 dual 80 and be good again. It is just something about once you use a dual 80 in 3/8 that is all you want to pick up but i have the short standard size one now and just need a little more length and a flex head hahaha. Sounds like first world tool snob problems.

You threw several of us off because in your original thread title you listed this as an FHKF936A (the "K" denotes stubby). What you actually have is an FHLF936A (the "L" denotes long). It is a very nice example of the last soft grip flex head non dual 80 ratchet. In fact it actually looks brand new. How much did it set you back?

I just realized i fat fingered the title opps. I paid 99 for it shipped to my house with but it came with a 17mm socket as well so i dont think it was terrible just not great if it was a dual 80 it would of been good on my end.

It's not a bad deal either way. Here is what I would do: find a good deal on a FLF80 and swap heads. This way you would have the soft grip dual 80 flex you were originally trying to acquire but you would also have the 936 head on a long chrome handle without the plastic grip. This could be your "dirty" ratchet......you know when you're under something and your up to your elbows in grease and oil. You will appreciate how much easier it is to clean up/wipe down. Just a thought.

Shockwave the part number for the rebuild kit is RKRSR936 for the 1/2 drive but no luck on the dust cover yet.

Who knows?
I've seen ratchet heads on the bay for around $30.

I passed on that same ratchet. The seller advertised it incorrectly.

Have you considered opening a claim?

I bought a set if what was advertised as Matco 3/8 wobble extensions on ebay. When they arrived it turned out they were actually 1/4". I offered to send them back if the seller paid shipping. The seller gave me a full refund and told me to keep them.

It's worth a shot man.

But did the part number in the description match the part number in the picture?

If I remember correctly, it did not.

I wouldnt go after the guy. I think i saw that listing and it didn't say it was a dual 80. I think buyers should ask questions before buying and only go after a seller if the item was NOT as described.

My dealer might have suggested that if the scew that holds the handle on comes loose and then too much torque is applied it will snap the handle. And he would have to replace it with a dual 80 since the 36 tooths are no longer sold. So be sure to make sure the bolt doesn't come loose.

Any idea where to get a dust cover? I just realized I have a flex head 936 in my truck box that would be cool to convert into a 1/2" drive. I bet I could just open up the hole some on the original plate, no?

GDocktor3 when i took mine apart it didn't look like you could make the hole bigger due to an O ring seal. I however ordered a rebuild kit. I will let you know of the outcome and if the new cover fits with no issues.

The description is in the part number.

FHLF936 is a 36 tooth ratchet. FHLF80 is an 80 tooth ratchet.
