Is there anyone that can identify this Fiber optic connector? We had an incident with our Readout on our optical comparator at my day job and it tore the fiber out of the connector.

Might be an FC connector. SMA will have a .125" ferrule, FC will have a 2.5mm ferrule I believe FCs were typically keyed through, SMAs weren't

Thanks Everyone for your info.

Next question is this something that could be easily repaired or is there special equipment needed?

I used to do field service and found for non life critical situations (we had some instructor stations networked with fiber on simulators) i could get away with carefully using a razor blade to make a cleanish end cut and routing the fiber into the connector. We eventually got the right tools to skin the fiber and polish the end. Noticed your local cable provider is pushing fiber - maybe a local tech can do a side gig. If you google "pre terminated fiber" you may be able to mail order a complete run - unsure how much acces or distance is involved.

hardly anyone polishes fiber these days. plenty of better options including unicam connectors and splicing factory ends with tails onto the fiber
