Fiber strands..ok for tiling?

Hello everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm prepping my concrete garage floor for tiling. The floor has some what I believe polypropylene fiber strands sticking out on the surface.

Am I supposed to get rid of the strands for a proper tiling job with thinset or can I leave it as it is and apply thinset over it?

I'd appreciate any insight.

Thanks!

No issues with fiber strands sticking out when applying your thinset. Just make sure you don't have any air pockets or empty voids under your tiles when setting.

I have read that some people burn (melt) the strands off with a weed torch, but I would just have at it.
