Thank you for posting! I suppose the citizens of Texas may question the justification for the State of Texas spending their money to compile such a thing but it's very cool nonetheless.

Given that oil and gasoline has been such a large part of Texas and what its all about for the past hundred years, I can see them spending the money on it.

Remember SPINDLETOP!!!!!!

It is Texas history. And in Texas, history is important. History of our state is a big part of our education through the school years. It helps us learn who we are and where we come from.

I think it is very cool too.

I understand and it does make some sense. Of course, bars are an important part of Texas history too - has the state compiled a history book on them too? :D

Reminds me of that episode of King of the Hill when they dug into the history of Arlen, TX and it turned out that it used to be "harlottstown, TX", just a bunch of hookers and what-not. They decided it best to re-bury the history, LOL.

Not in this case...old gas stations are Americana at it's best!

The taxpayer money was not wasted on welfare. This is a potential benefit to the taxpayer rather than the tax taker.
