Anyone have a proven method of catching and killing stink bugs? Studies have said that the best trap is a turkey roast pan, water, Dawn dish soap, and a desk lamp. I'm gonna argue that though. The best traps I have found are every box, tote bin, cabinet, and uprights of pallet racking in my barn.

Anyone know of any other traps or anything to help capture and kill these f@$&ers? I don't care if your remedy makes them spray. I just want to catch and kill them.

If in the house, hold a partially filled water bottle with a little dish detergent under them they fall in with a little tap, swill around. On the outside screens looks like sparrows chow down on them.

Your going to love when the spotted lantern flies make it up your way.

On Sunday one flew into my car windown in PA, fell into the crack between my seat and center console, and hitchhiked 50 miles down into Maryland with me. Luckily I noticed it and was able to find and kill it as soon as I got home.

I can only imagine how many do this and survive :shocking:

RAID won't give me instant satisfaction for these stink bugs that can crawl and enter the home through any crevice. Some survive over the winter in my attic and then become an indoor winter problem. Pic is the shed entrance. Seen similar groups on every door sill on a 4-dr car waiting to get in. My house backs to woods and when the birds fly through the trees the stinkers swarm and land on the outside house wall stinking up that side of the house. IMG_20180411_125545.jpg

I use TELSTAR around all openings and can be sprayed on wood siding without harming. Safe for pets once dry. Do not think its safe for indoor use. But if you can keep them out the less you have to deal with during the winter.

I've had the dawn trap thing up in the trusses a few days on a timer. I'm on my way out to the barn to do some work and check it out. We'll see how it goes. I probably killed 2 dozen yesterday between smashing them and sucking them up in a shop vac.

Sucking up stink bugs with the vac is effective but it leaves the stinky odor in the vac which exits the exhaust port for the next job.

Inside the house I spray a 50%/50% mixture of dishsoap & vinegar in a spray bottle on them. Kills them quick, no smell other than the vinegar.

Or I trap them a empty water bottle.

Sealing the openings will reduce them in the house. I have not found anything that keeps them off the cedar sided house.

IIRC, I used a two litter bottle. Cut the top off, flip it over and place back on the bottle creating a funnel. Out a few inches of water with Dawn in the bottom along with a light source. Seal the cut with clear tape and sit it out at night with the light on. Turn off all other lights in the area. I caught several dozen a night that way. They can't figure out how to get out and eventually due in the soapy water.

Is it just me or are these things the dumbest things to ever exist? They randomly fly into walls, land on their backs and die, and generally are only searching for warmth.

Nothing is a natural predator, there is no real remedy and as far as I am concerned, they didn't exist at all 5 years ago. I hate these things. They make my daughters scream and run away and generally are a massive nuisance for another few months.

My wife is a teacher and anytime we find something interesting (dead bugs mostly) she puts them in a closed clear plastic petrie dish type container to bring to school and show her elementary students. She put a live stink bug in one about three weeks ago. No air, no food, no water etc. and the friggin thing is still alive crawling around. They are annoying but seem to be harmless.

I sucked one up in a Dyson cordless vac a while ago. I whirled that SOB for a good 2-3 minutes. Didn't do anything to it. It still crawled around like idiot.

When I pick one up of the wall with a tissue, I like to turn it sideways and crush it. Gives a satisfying crunch.

Although I don't mind the smell that much, I hate these bugs. They are so cocky and arrogant. They fly like idiots, and they don't try and get away as I slowly reach up to grab them. D*cks.
