About to do my floor this weekend i hope. I got the edges ground finally and just got the door in, so now I can atleast regulate humidity (and bugs!) a bit better than before.

I have a few hairline cracks. They’re .0625” wide or so.

I have a tube of 2 part polyurea elastomeric crack and joint filler... would I be making a bigger mess using this stuff? Would the epoxy just cover these small cracks and self level?

I plan on epoxying over the control cuts and potentially caulking later, but I’d rather not fill them, I prefer the look. I just have some hairline cracks otherwise

For cracks of that size I advise our customers to use a little of our primer mixed with fine kiln fried sand to make a patching slurry to fill prior to applying the primer. Those seemingly small cracks can/will siphon off a lot of material and will very likely be visible in your finished floor. If you're not using a primer, make sure that your patch/fill products are compatible with whatever coating system you choose! Best way to do that is to acquire all the needed patch/fill/repair materials from the same manufacturer as your coating system.

Hi, no liquid coating will 'fix' a floor so any cracks or irregularities you have need to be fixed first or they will definitely telegraph through. There are a number of products available to fix cracks, but make sure the one you are using is 'coatable' with your coating. An elastometric is a flexible product so if/when the slab moves even slightly, the non-flexible epoxy can crack too.

We like for these kinds of cracks to recommend our Crack Repair Epoxy Putty which is stronger than concrete and less prone to the issues noted above.
