I am having a concrete floor poured in my 36 x 60 pole barn. One side is approximately 10 inches lower then the other side. Overall it will need about 4 inches of fill in general. My question is: I have about 20 concrete slabs/pieces that are roughly 5 inches thick, 2 feet wide and 6-8 feet long. If I were to dig out the existing gravel in the low side of the barn, could I lay the concrete slabs out and then cover them with what I dug out as a starter to leveling the gravel base? I know I will still need fill and need to compact it. Bottom line is will the buried slabs cause any issue with the new concrete? I hate to spend money for fill when I have these slabs laying 50 feet away.
