How are you guy going about filling the control joints on a broom finish?

On my smooth garage floor I put 1/4" backer rod down about 3/4", taped with 3/4" masking tape,Then put Sika self leveling sealer, used putty knife to smooth and level, then pealed up the tape.

Thats not going to work on the rougher broom finish.

SO what are you guys doing for a nice uniform finish?

You want the sealer to be 1/8" lower than the concrete. You don't need to level it off with a putty knife because it's self leveling. If you have concrete that slopes quite a bit, be careful not to over fill where it runs out of the cut on the low side. I would start on the low side and carefully work my way uphill. If the self leveling sealer runs out at the edge of the slab, you can use just enough non-self leveling sealer to hold it in.
