I was planning on filling in the single expansion joint groove in my new garage with Rustoleum Epoxyshield, before using Epoxy-coat.

Is it a good idea to do that or should I abandon the plan and let the groove remain? Will the expansion joint still work if it is filled in with epoxy filler?

My personal preference is to use a joint filler provided by or approved by the epoxy manufacturer. Does it really make a difference, probably not but it avoids being told it was not their product that failed it was the joint filler. :scared:

We have a joint fill gel. Legacy and DCS will have a product as well.

My thoughts are, If the area is constantly heated so there wont be any expansion, contraction due to temperature changes, fill it. If it isn't heated and the temps vary, use a flexible joint filler. If you don't give a **** either way, leave it open.

You say "new" garage......In my experience the majority of the cracks appear the first year so I fill them after that
