Filling sawcut control joints

This seems to be a popular topic these days so I will share how I have done my last 3 garages. All have been new concrete so the sawcut depth was known only to be 1". I waited almost a year to fill the joints in an effort to let them do what they are designed to do...let cracks happen.....then air pressure blowing the joints out completely clean. They were then filled with Ardex Feather Finish from White Cap mixed to where you could almost pour it in. Being that soupy it will shrink and require 3 coats being finished smooth with a putty knife. After all dry I hit it with a 16 grit sanding wheel from HD (Tool Rental Section). As you can see in the pic when new concrete is Cut with a Soffcut machine the same day you pour it has a tendancy to lift the area next to the cut...the grinding disc will take care of that as well.
The last 2 garage floors were epoxied and you couldn't tell where the cuts were after being filled in this manner. I was going to Epoxy this floor but have changed my mind and going with Armstrong Commercial VCT laid in a diaganol checkerboard.
Hope this helps!

I am going to epoxy my floor and was concerned about the proper way to address the control joints. Now I know. Thanks for sharing this tip.
