After having a second to sit down on the computer at our new place, I thought I'd like to start a thread about my new shop. This will share some pics with you all about how it stands now, as well as all the changes I have in mind for the future to "make it mine".

The place we bought is a 40 acre farm, and the previous owners had this pool barn built to function a bit as both a barn as well as a garage. While we do plan on raising some beef in the future, I sure as hell won't be sacrificing any of my shop space for critters  So, some definite changes will be taking place, but that will all be down the road. I'll post updates in this thread as changes take place over the years. Well, let's get started.

This is the front of the shop, this pic was from the original real estate listing and was one of the things that caught my eye about wanting to come take a look at it.

This is a rough blueprint I drew out from memory prior to buying the place. I asked a few of you GJ'ers about. The stall on the left-hand side is actually bigger than the blueprint I drew, which you'll see in a sec.

This is standing just inside the small bay door, looking towards the right-hand side where the enclosed "shop" and smaller stall is.

This is from the other corner area looking towards the left. The stall is pretty big, 20' long. I will definitely be tearing down those walls to open the shop up for more floor space.

The dirt floors that will need to get filled in once the walls come down.

Same stall, just looking out the door in the rear of the shop.

Looking out of the bay door to the field part of the property. That little old building you see there, I just found out, is actually the house the originally homesteading family lived in back in the mid/late 1800's. I was going to tear it down... now I feel like I should just move it somewhere else on the property lol.

Don't know **** about electrical work, but thought I'd take a pic of the fuse box for kicks.

Shop filled with shop, household, and everything else from the moving trucks, but threw my new Reed sign up.

That's it for now, I'll also start a thread here soon, on the other 1-car stand-alone garage on the property, and might hit up the shed thread for the two sheds we have here too. Until next time.

Man, that's a lot of doors to secure!

Total of 7 doors leading out of the shop. Might of been useful to them but I plan to kill 3 of them by removing the stalls. I'll be leaving the large double-door in the rear of the shop to open up for some breeze during the summer.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Hey, thanks for the replies guys. Sorry for being slow getting back to you, been a bit busy as you could imagine. The shop is still half full of random house related **** and other stuff that will be moved to the storage sheds.

The bulk of my tools are still in big plastic totes which made it easier to load in and out of the moving truck.

I've been thinking about the stalls in the shop. While I dislike the idea of giving up much of my shop space, they may prove useful if left as-is, for when we get some beef on the property. I'll need to store some hay, corn feed, etc. We'll see how it plays out I suppose.

Anyway, thanks again guys!

Hey kippieland - what part of western WA are you from? I grew up in northern Snohomish county.

Thanks guys! I was so dead-set on the idea of taking out that stall, but now I'm unsure. I need to learn more about taking care of cattle in the area to see if I'll need that stall or not. We'll see =)

kippieland - Hope your enjoying the traffic. ;)

The stalls don't look substantial enough for horses or cattle. When the time comes you can build a purpose designed structure. For now, I would take the walls down, re-purpose the materials and concrete the floor. Your existing "simple" doors would make great windows. Don't think I would want the inevitable odors emanating from waste in my dream shop.

Bib - I don't think they'd ever be used to house cattle or anything, more for storage of hay, etc. But even then... lol

Kippieland - LOL well, I live up in the greater Colville area, so no traffic for me. =P

As for the garage itself, I won't be doing any major stuff to it it soon. Need to look into buying a tractor first, among a few other things. But I might add pics as I build a big shop bench, and other smaller stuff.
