My current oil filter pliers work most times, but sometimes the filters I work with(7.3 diesel) can really get stuck on and band style is the only style that will get them off. My coworker has the 3 sizes of blue point with the solid blue handles. They work well, and am thinking about getting them, but I would like to hear your opinion on what you like and have had good luck with.

Lisle Swivel Grippers for me, they have some rough spots to hang onto the filter.

I used this pictured strap wrench for a year or so with no issues. It has a 1/2" drive recess to be used on a breaker bar or ratchet. With an extension I've gotten this into tight spots I couldn't have gotten my band filter wrenches into. I've also used it to break free the most stubborn oil filters and it grips incredibly. I hardly use band style filter wrenches any more. Can be had at any Napa for around $15. However, I couldn't find the link so I just posted the Amazon photo.

Also snap on makes a pretty good one as well, slightly heavier strap that grips a little better.

I agree with Ruger 556, the regular Lisle are good but the Swivel Grippers are better.
I have 4 sizes of band style filter wrenches plus the strap type for larger filters. Never used the filter pliers

Agreed. I've been using that tool as long as I've been changing oil. Decades.

I use the Lisle ones for most everything. I think I have 5 different sizes. They work really well.

I ended up getting the swivel grippers -- 57020, 57030, 57040, and 54200 (because i couldn't find anywhere online that had that big of a size in the swivel gripper style.)

I already have the OTC adjustable pliers 4561 and lisle 63250 adjustable jaw attachment. The pliers are my most used method, but I have ran into instances where they crush the filter before it will break free. The jaw attachment works good for filters up in an engine compartment that you can't pliers, but most filters that I've ran into that get stuck on have too deep of a dish and the jaws won't have enough to grip on.
