I have this Duravac 19L / 5hp wall-mount vacuum cleaner:

And it drives me nuts trying to find a filter for this thing.
Most places sell filters for "any standard" Shopvac, Duravac etc. and most don't say that they won't work with this model.
The filter that this one takes is slightly longer due to the longer filter holder/cage.
I can find filters for about $35 each which is quite pricey and I'll buy it since I have no choice.

But my real question is: has anyone managed to swap or modify the filter cage from a standard Shopvac vacuum, so that this one would then accept the standard filters that can be bought anywhere?

Thanks!

Thank you! I couldn't find the model code for this one on their website.

I'd still prefer to find a way to modify it and get the universal filters.

No pix of the filter cage online, got a pic you can share?

I assume cutting it in the middle, and JB welding it back together is going to be your only option, from looking at how my Craftsman shop vac is built.

How about instead, you block off the portion that is uncovered when you put a filter on it? On mine, if my filter was too short, I'd have some distance of cage exposed, an easy path to bypass the filter. Maybe make a collar of thick plastic, put a gasket on both ends, and jam your shorter filter down against it, and then against the body?

Yes, I thought of modifying my cage.
The short filter almost covers the open part of the cage completely, but leaves a gap around. Plus there's an opening at the bottom meant for the retainer lock. So, if I can find a wide and thick rubber gasket to eliminate the gap around the bottom part of the short filter, I can just tape the retainer lock opening and be able to use these short filters.
I went and bought a correct filter today for $40 just to get back to business, but may keep the wrong short filters I bought if I can find a way to reliably plug those gaps.

Here are some pics that may help others, too.

Looking harder at what you have shown, it seems like a piece of PVC pipe the size (diameter) of your retaining cap shown in 4th pic, cut to length MIGHT do the job. You may need gasket material under the cap to PVC transition.

That assume you can get pipe that diameter.
