I passed my rough inspection recently, on my new detached garage, and am now adding the outlets and switches, etc. He spent all of about 5 minutes on the rough inspection.

Can anyone elaborate on what the inspector typically looks for on final?

The basic stuff - the correctly sized breakers on the right gauge (or larger) wiring, wire stapled to the studs close to the termination boxes, screw protection plates anywhere the wire is within an inch or so of the edge of a stud, twisted ground wiring at junctions, fire caulking, etc. They got me on my fire caulking because I had only caulked the wires that penetrated from the 1st story into the 2nd story but I hadn't considered the top plate where a few wires went into the attic. I was super stressed about the whole thing but it really wasn't a big deal. The inspector was really cool about everything (also pointing out that I needed a mechanical permit for the mini-splits I installed). He wrote down the ASTM number of the fire caulking I should be using and went ahead and signed off on the inspection without a need for a return trip.
