Finally a Craigslist deal!-Snap On FZERO

All I can say is it's about time, there's been a long CL drought around my neck of the woods!

Picked up a Snap On FZERO ratchet for $45 bucks. I was about to ask if the seller received it as a gift from an Ebola patient. The guy only used it a couple times, must have needed a little cash because he said there may be another in his future. He let me demo it in the shop too. I declined on trying it out on the ol' company van and just tried it on his vise bolts instead.

Dang, I haven't bought anything off Craigslist in a while. Primarily because there is usually nothing for me.

This feels like a nice ratchet.

Wow let's hope not. I don't think anybody wants to be associated with this thread just in case . I couldn't quite find it on the website even. Just the repair kit. Is production that limited so far?

Thats a good price but the head looks huge. I can't imagine that being my go to ratchet. Id imagine once the new toy factor wears off you will ise it next to never

Maybe this will help. I have no experience with the FZERO. If Stuey's sticker price of $180 is correct, I'd say you got a great deal. Maybe he has further info.

I'd like to see some long term reports on these ratchets, but the guys that were among the first to post about them never followed up on their threads. The pure size of the head is enough to keep me away unless I start reading some glowing reviews.

I have had one for a few months now, don't use it a ton. But with zero gear lash and super smooth rotation it's great in tight spots. But it is weird to use when you are use to feeling teeth on a ratchet, unless you are looking at it, you can't really feel if you are tightening or just goin back and forth. Also it stiffens up a lot when it is cold, I used it the other day when it was around 0'F and it was really stiff. But other than that it's great.

that is one I would flip on ebay for a fast $110-$120 as a "like new" one

I don't care for gearless ratchets because you need the clicky feel and sound in order to tell if your fastener is actually getting looser rather than just going back & forth.

but as far as the deal, no reason you can't make a fast $75 profit!

so this deal definitely qualifies as a YOU **** award!

Thanks guys and thanks for the link PFSard. It really is a sweet mechanism, barely takes any movement to engage a fastener it seems. Clearly the head is bigger than standard round heads but I think the action makes up for that in a way.
As far as the seller it was a tech at a reputable shop so unless he walked off the truck with one which I highly doubt, he probably got a nice deal on it or maybe it was a promo. Anyways, as far as selling it I really think I will hang onto it.
Ryanedoyle-it was barely used by the guy.
Ducksface, from what I recall only certain items qualified for student discount. I thought only specially geared student sets were 50% discounted IIRC from school.

Maybe the $45 was what he was offered at the pawn shop for it, and would rather somebody else buy it vs letting the pawn shop make the $75 (or around here they would ask retail)
