I've wanted one (or two) of these for a long time. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one. Been researching lifts for some time and decided on the Bend Pak HD9 four post lift. 9000# capacity with casters, drip trays and jack platform. Should be here in about a week.

Congrats! Oil changes are a pleasure when you have one. Your next purchase will most likely be a collection drain unit for use under the lift...

Gorgeous lift!! Congrats. If my ceilings were a bit higher, I would definitely be going with the same lift. One day . . . in the "next" garage . . .

My wife has pre-approved one of these as soon as we can afford it after the remodel. She even suggested I get the high lift option on the garage door to give better clearance. Guessing I made a good choice with the second wife. :)

My ceilings are 10'8" which should work out well with this lift I think.

Are they a pain in the *** to do any type of brake or suspention work ? Just looks like you would be reaching when doing brake work.

I love mine for brake and suspension work. No issues what so ever.

I can have the car on the lift and the wheels up off the ramps in the equivalent time it takes on a 2 post since you would have to line up the arms then walk around and line the other arms. Granted that is using the RJ-45 hydro scissor jack. It would be slower using some other regular jacking solution, but access is still the same.

I like the runways, they work well as semi-workbenches right where your working, and you can lay all your tools, rotors, bolts, pads, etc right at the same level your at. It's all preference, and sometime I could utilize a 2 post, but have no regrets. I would just have both if I had the room and the money to do so.

Sorry to ***** up the thread with pics I've posted before, but I have these handy so here they are again

Congratulations, your gonna love it! Post up some pics for sure when you get it.. Putting it together is daunting to start, but is alot of fun like someone mentioned above.

If you haven't already search for Junkman's install thread, he has a lot of good tips and pictures. And as you'll see in other build threads, LAY THE POSTS DOWN to slide the crossbeams in, then tip them up together. The manual says to stand up two post and lower the crossbeam down into them. You will understand when you get to that point..

And if your gonna use it for service and not just parking, GET THE RJ-45! It is so worth it, seems expensive up front but you will not regret it once you use it.

I have the same lift - best thing ever. My oil catch is a 45 gal drum on casters, with a funnel. I can fill it for years, then load it and dump it all at once. Here's a pic of my shop and lift when I was just finishing the Challenger.

Hey dmw56

Congrats on the purchase, I'm looking at them ATM but haven't decided on the brand and model for my garage.

Congrats! Here's mine!
When I saw your pics of your "Clubby" and "Monaro" Chris, I thought if he can get a Bend Pak hoist down here then they must be available.

Then I took a closer look, wrong country:(

PS: Top cars aren't they:thumbup:

Don't mean to hijack here but could you please go up in your garage attic and take a pick at how you modified your trusses to get extra clearance for your lift? I'm sure there's a bunch of us that want to do this as well.

My trusses run from front to back (I'm thinking just like yours do) and I don't have enough room to vault the entire ceiling in the 3rd bay, due to the trusses from (bays 1 and 2) intruding into the 3rd bay. Anyway, I should only need to modify 3 trusses to open up the entire section. A quick pic would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Congrats on the lift! You will soon start to wonder how you ever got along without it. I have an HD-9, with an RJ-45 and have yet to find anything that I can't do with it. The only thing that I"ll be adding soon is the air line kit for the RJ-45.

Congrats on a useful purchase. I hope to get one this year. I had a cathedral ceiling on one bay with 16 ft. height at the center of ceiling and 9 ft. walls 8/12 pitch. I had the garage door runners lifted at roof angle to allow the door to be up in hot weather while vehicle is on the lift.

I have never had any problem doing brake work on my HD 9, and a couple of winters ago, I had to change the entire rear axle assembly on my 1963 Chrysler, and if it were not for the HD 9, I would still be struggling with it. 2 post lifts are great for many people, but those of us that just don't need a 2 post lift get along just fine using the 4 post lift. I have used both, and I prefer the 4 post lift now, because I just feel safer under it. I have seen too many times where a car or truck will fall from a 2 post lift because of operator error.

Congratulations on your new lift.

I must say, I'm very much digging your avatar. I've been AMXless for too long now. I'd love to see another picture.

Here are some pictures of my AMX. I've owned this car since 1975. This isn't my shop it's a hanger at the local muni airport. But I sure wish it were!

Junkman, I just read your HD9 assembly thread. Thanks for all the info and photos. I'm sure I'll be reading it again before I'm finished.

Vettesplus, that's an awfully clean shop! Very nice, like the Vettes too!

You really can't see anything because the sides are drywalled.

Picked up the lift today at the Yellow Freight terminal. Used the gantry crane to unload it off the car trailer. I'm busy the next 2 weekends so it will be a while until I can put it together.

Finally had time and a good weather to put up the lift. Deviated a little from the written instructions just make things easier.

The lift came very well packed.

001-3.jpg

Layed the posts down and inserted the cross bar and lift them up instead of standing the posts up and dropping them in.

003-2.jpg

Tilted up the posts and cross bar and then set the deck platforms on the cross bars.

009-1.jpg

008-1.jpg

Lifted the whole thing up with the crane to run the cables and hydraulic lines.

010-2.jpg

Completed lift on the casters. Need to move the cars out of the shop to get it in. I will use this one for storage. I'll get a 2 post to work on the cars.
