So I've been on garage journal before it was called garage journal hahaha and finally get to start my workshop/garage thread! :bounce:

I've always had a 2 car garage at each place we've lived but nothing really to show. Basically just storage. This will be MY space with small workshop in rear and front area will be my 54 Chevy and cigar room/hangout.

I ordered a pre fab 14x40 garage with gambrel roof. Should be delivered in about 4 weeks. But for now I will show the progress of site prep!

So my tree guy has been busy getting them out of the way. Ran into a small issue with power company about last tree which is in the wires so we are dealing with them now. Tree guy can't touch the last tree because of the wires and power company says it's not a priority even though the tree is actually BURNED by the wires lol.

Blue stakes is where the building is going. I got the stone guys coming next week to put in the crushed stone pad since these prefabs have a wood flooring system.

Building is delivered to the waiting site. I went and looked at it today. Glad I went with gambrel roof. Ceiling height is great!

Thanks! Yeah, the cost compared to stick built was substantial. Biggest reason was concrete work. That alone saved me 5000.00. I had a tight budget and this worked out perfectly for what I plan to do. I will have a nice workshop in back that I'm enclosing separate that will be roughly 14x18- 14x20 and the front will be my chill spot for my cigar smoking obsession lol.

More pics to come as soon as the building arrives!

Epoxy floors went in tonight. Pretty easy process. Just got to work fast. Only issue I had was the lettering on the plywood bleed through. Should have sanded it off I guess. Oh well, it's a workshop lol.

Nothing exciting happened today. Got the layout figured out for the divider wall. Got a price list for electrical, wall boards, insulation. Then started drilling out holes for the wiring. Unfortunately I got to go back to work tomorrow so I will be working on it in the evenings and weekends only for a while. :)

Cool, going to be interesting to see the decoration and layout of the Smoking room.

Thanks! So the smoke room will be the front 25 foot of the building. I will have my 54 Chevy in there too with a small couch and table. Just a chill spot basically. Then the back 15 foot will be my workshop. I got to get electrical run and then I can start making big cosmetic changes!

You probably don't know what cars you'll eventually end up, but I can tell you that my 24' deep garage with 24" shelves in the back barely fit my Galaxie in it! Then again, I didn't realize it was was wider and longer than our Ford Flex either. Might want to give yourself another foot or so if you're building anything along it.

I'll second that. My home garage is 24' deep and with a couple tool boxes on the wall it gets small. I'd kill for another 2'.

Those little shed moving machines impress the heck out of me. Cant comment on the space thing as my garage is a 6x8 shed and its full between motorcycles and toolbox.

Nice garage! I have a 24X24 prefab garage just like yours all wood. It came in 2 sections and was installed by one person in one day. It was amazing to watch. I love the epoxy floor I never knew you could put it on wood.
Cant wait to see how you fix it up. I've always wanted to spray foam the walls and ceiling but too much $$$ to do it.
Congratulations.

Thanks! That's awesome, I didn't even know they made kits that came in 2 sections! Very cool!

As far as insulation, I'm going with regular R13 roll insulation. Affordable for what I need.

sorry I'm pretty clumsy at posting pictures but I think these links work, I've since got some asphalt work done and all the stone is covered and no more ramps are needed. Nine years in I love my garage.

Colt that’s awesome man. I was wondering the interior height but looking at your interior wall take it the end walls are 6’ 6” and another 2ft of rise plus the peak. Have you pulled the truck in yet to see what it’s really like?

Thanks!

So yeah, your almost dead on with measurements. Total ceiling height after insulation will be a little over 10'. I haven't pulled the vehicle in yet, I should just to see!
