Had the 1/2" and 3/8" ratchets and have been looking for the 1/4" for a long time. Someone has been running one on eBay for $50 and there's no way I'm going that high. Scored one on eBay today for $17 shipped.

WOO WOO I hate sets that are missing pieces.

Hmm...about 3 weeks ago they had a USA made 1/4 drive on the shelf. I guess I should have bought it. Probably gone by now.

Those are my favorite ratchets. I wish Sears had expanded the line and made a flex version as well as some extended versions.

I like the 3/8" the best, has a great feel in the hand, smooth ratcheting, and love the quick release.

When I first bought them, I almost returned them:

Glad I didn't!

The 84T ones are OK but with no quick release I won't ever own a set.

Anyone know if there is a rebuild kit that can be bought so I don't have to worry about replacing it in the future?

Stupid me waited this long. I've walked past the USA versions at least a hundred times with money in my pocket. DOH!!!!

I had the 3/8" version for about 10 years and liked it but didn't use it that much, as I have some go-to Matco ratchets that are my favorites. I recently bought the 1/2" and they are moving up the list with me and I really like the way they feel in the hand.

Well I got it today. :bounce: I kind of jumped the gun when I placed my bid and didn't look at the pictures good enough. When I looked closer it looked like they were pretty bashed up which bummed me out. As I took it out of the package I realized it was just gunk on the back, 2 minutes with some polish and it looks like new. I am really thrilled with these ratchets, next to my Matco set these are in 2nd place.

Picture didn't come out well but I just made a Photobucket account. Let's try again.

My USA versions, a few of them, had flaking chrome which I had replaced before the Taiwan versions replaced them on the shelf. But I have to say, the Chrome plating on the Taiwan versions is better and the insides look exactly the same. I stashed the USA ones and use the Taiwan versions for my toolbox beaters.

I just can't stand the 1/2 one...like HF's pro, fat and just doesn't feel right!

I still picked up the hf today to give it a whirl...but not the cman's.

Anyhow all I canfind is Taiwan now.

My son got me the 80th Anniversary 3pc set for Father's Day when it first came out a few years ago. I really like them, especially compared to my 1980's "V" series Cman raised panels. A "night and day" difference in feel and tooth count! I've read many complaints about them being thin profile, yet having a quick release button sticking out in the way. I don't know what versions they have, but mine have nearly flush buttons, and don't obstruct enough to be a problem. The 3/8" is almost completely flush.

I'm going to keep on bumping this thread until someone compliments my score. :D It's not a you **** but it is a sweet ratchet for decent money. I didn't expect it to look as good.

OK.

You did a nice score. :)

LOL.

I picked up a set of 3 of the thin profiles around Xmas 2007 for $75 from my local Sears.

The Snap-On F80's and S80's were just coming out and once used, the C'mans still to this day sit lonley in the basement .

I personally like the thin profiles better than the 84t pro line up but it's a shame they moved production to Asia.

Comfy ratchets, although I will agree the 1/2" drive thin profile is a little clunky on tooth count.

Enjoy them.
