Are you planning to put a solid top across it first to help distribute tge weight? Most boxes are designed for having the same size on top and the load is transferred in the corners.
On the US General 72” harbor freight sold the 56” top box on that roll away for several years until three to four years ago finally came out with the 72” top box. I don’t really much of a issue with using the 44” inch roll away with the 26” top box. If anything a 1/4” piece of plywood and it probably good to go

Tool box aside, I went to a ratty El Cajon CA store on memorial day to use the 25% off coupon on that Chief impact gun and they didn't even look at it or scan it. Just take off the 25% and get the hell out of here mister.

This may be toward the employees of El Cajon in general (the **** of San Diego), but I asked if I could grab a tool box using the same coupon. Reply: "I already rang you up, I don't care what in the hell you do but I just gotta ring you up again". I had the kids with me so it wasn't something any of them needed to deal with, so I just left. It'd only be better if she was smoking a Lucky and swigging some Hamm's beer at the register.

So in short, I suppose stores are hit and miss. Coupons don't matter, Coupons do matter, and sometimes customers in general are a bother.

For me, the advantage of the gen 1 boxes is more space if the toolbox is along the wall of a garage to open and close car doors.

just an FYI they are NOT fulling extending drawers. stop about 1 1/2" short, but not a big deal.
I have the 72" and it was only a bother on my socket drawer. This is what I did to solve that. Unloading the drawer was the most time consuming part. Pull the drawer and drill out these rivits. You might need to pry up on the slide to get them to come free, Then they should just slide forward. Once you have them out remove this bumpstop and bend the tab as flat as you can.

The inner slide should just push out of the outter slide. Take the roller ball pieces and hold on to them, I cleaned and relubed mine while I had them apart. There are two for each slide so 8 total. I set a depth guage to 1 1/4 and cut them. When I put them back together I put the thicker end towards the rear. I don't know if it would matter but my thought was I was going to be pull out harder than I would be pushing it in and they could only go so far inwards. I did this 3+ years ago and to my heaviest drawer without any issues.

Any updates? Did you find a top box? Have you started to load it up yet?
making room, it is too large to fit where existing box is, hole is only 30" wide.

was hoping that the top box would go on sale or Father's Day, not luck there, guess it is full price or no price :!

Thanks for sharing! I'm going to go pick mine up this weekend as well! I think I am doing a 44" bottom cabinet with the 44" top.

I went for the fourth sale and those coupons wouldn't work for toolboxes.

Well ran out and picked up the 26" Top Chest today, the closest store to me 15 min did not have one in stock, the one about 25 minutes away said they had one so went and picked it up. Used my 10% coupon and threw it in the back of the truck and away we went ;)

Looks great! It was more of a hassle getting the thing out of the cardboard box and dismantling the cardboard box than setting the toolbox up.

had some time and busted the 26" out the box and had a hand to drop it on the 44" roller !!
now to make room for it and find it a new home. No it will Not fit in the hole where the old Craftsman was, not large enough. so going to take some rearranging !!

I'm going to have to give this a try on my 44".
Thanks for the tip!

got my box set up and then realized that they only gave me 1 package of the drawer label end tabs !!

so did what i do, designed one to 3d print. came out great, used one of the existing ones to design from, and made them look the same. i did put a leading edge chamfer to make them easier to get in the track ends !! I put the file up on my Thingiverse page if anyone needs it :)

I didn't get any with mine! (Or I mistakenly threw them out)

I don't have a 3D printer or I'd take you up on that. Appreciate you doing that though!

I found labels to my box about a year after I bought it. Since it’s just me using it, I never bothered.
