Started my 26x28 2 1/2 yrs ago.
Finally feeling done.
Got the lighting completed, mostly, a few days ago.
Went with 12 4’ two bulb LED’s. 12’ ceilings.
Part of me was worried it would be overkill but it’s not.
Great lighting.
I have it set up on switches so if any of the two front or one side/rear garage doors are up I can switch off those lights.
I still have three to install actually.
One directly over the bench and two on either side to illuminate the sides of the vehicles for detailing.
My bench is setup and mostly my tools sorted so finally I feel like it’s a good working garage.

I need to detail the Vette and new 350.
Both were outside a bit while the lights went up and such.
The Vette and truck both are nice and clean but need a final detail before covering them. 5k on the 2012 Vette and 200mi on the 350.
Both don’t go outside in the weather 😀
A little final polish on each and I’m set for now.
A bit more tool organization etc.

Looks great. Can never have enough light, I am pretty close to what you have there and still want to add in a 4 or 8’ strip over the work bench that will be manually switched as well wired into a motion sensor.

One of the last lights I’m adding is a 3’ LED, switched, right above the hanging tools over the bench.

Do you have a link to the lights that you bought? I just built my garage this past summer and am about to buy lights. Mine is only a few feet larger than yours and also 12’ ceilings. Yours looks great by the way!

Great looking shop! You should be proud. Any detailed pics or description of the garage door setup? (Jack shaft opener, clearance to the ceiling, car on rack, etc).
Thanks!

The lights are from Primelight. Michael McMillan [email protected] 512-843-1383

4' two bulb vapor and moisture proof enclosures

No affiliation whatsoever

primelight.com

My specific light: https://www.primelights.com/shop/it...t-44-watts-instant-on-5-700lm-pl-vt4-2led44wl

The actual lights I have up are a slightly different model because I ordered two years ago. The link above is to the model I just ordered for two side lights I will be hanging at an angle to detail the car sides. Michael told me it is a virtual exact match but the specs would say it is just a tic brighter if anything. The enclosure is the same, lens etc, but the bulbs are now slightly better. He claims I will not be able to see a difference.

They are a pure white fixture, clear lens and bright stainless hardware clips.

NOTE: The enclosure is made to hang really. While there is an included stainless bracket you attach over two eye hooks to make the hanging easier, even without using that the enclosure has the two small eye hooks and four plastic molded feet, protruding on the mounting side maybe maybe 1/2" or so.

I simply cut off the feet and eye hooks with a Fein tool and mounted them flush to the ceiling over my electrical boxes. I drilled two very small holes through for mounting hardware and one for the 12/2 wire from my box into the lights. They come with 18ga wire so I used wire nuts inside the lights. Very tidy finish imo and super clean look on the ceiling.

My front garage doors are 9x8 foam core steel doors. Pretty heavy but not like wood can be. The openers are by Liftmaster. I forget the hp but pretty robust units. 1hp? I did not want openers hanging down in my garage.

The side rear door is a 7x8 and it is a manual open.

All the door rails are high lift. The mains ended up 12" from the ceiling.
The side/rear door is 6" from the ceiling.

All three doors have lights that fall in line over them so I switched those to turn off each particular light if a door is open for a while.

The lights I used are 4 1/2" off the ceiling when flush mounted so the rear one just clears the door.

My garage is 24'6" deep - footing to footing. 26' deep garage measured to the walls.

I put my lift 13' into the garage. In that position I can put my car up fully on the lift and it is under the open doors and my truck cab fits neatly between the front door rails and the rear door rails.

I have 7' between the front garage door rails and the rear garage door rail. The truck cab fits in there.

Sorry for the sideways pix. I hold my iphone in a normal upright position and it posts sideways. Maybe I'll go back and do it w my phone sideways.

Many thanks for the response with detailed info and pics. Great looking garage, I hope to have two similar size doors and a lift in the next 6-12 months.
Thanks again and take care.
Andrew, Atlanta.
