Finally finished painting...

Almost anyway, only a small corner left to do. Im cutting up a few 1"x12" pieces of pine Ive got into about 2" thick pieces and painting them that same dark gray as the lower half to put up in the corner between the wall/ceiling. You can see it in the first 2 pictures, did that one wall so far...

Ahhh and the beauties of having an artsy-girlfriend...gotta love em!

She spent a good few hours on this for me, came out great! Home Depot actually sells NFL team colors, if anyones every thinking of doing a team theme. I just got a little $3.00 sample of the blue and red and that was more than enough for the entire NYG symbol.

Built this shelf between the two cabinets and mounted a flourescent light underneath...lights up the workbench perfectly!

Some kind of gray epoxy with lots and lots of sparkles, definitely. Its getting colder up here lately though so it'll probably wait till spring now unfortunately.

Blstr88 - what kind of lights are those you have? They look fairly bright. You happy with them? And yes - nothing wrong with the artsy type - although were arch rivals (Washington Deadskins here) NICE job on the Giants logo!

andersen24 - I LOVE those lights. They're 85W flourescent "canopy" lights from Home Depot, $50 a piece but well worth it IMO. They wire up right in the place of a typical light fixture. They also have an "eye" to turn on at dusk, off at dawn...but all I did was a small piece of tape over the eyes so they turn on/off with the switch...easy as cake. I've got 3 in the garage right now with plans for 2 more...even these 3 are incredibly bright so 5 total will be like daylight Im sure.

Karnage - Not sure how everyone else does it, but for me it was very simple. I just measured up from the floor with 50" with a tape measure and made a small mark, then another on the other side, and used a chalk line to make a straight line between the two marks. Just did this for each section that was broken up by the doors, garage doors, windows, corners, etc...after I had the chalk line I just very carefully put a 2" thick blue painters tape following the line (I did the tape pieces in like 12-16" strips, tore off a strip, stuck it, tore another, stuck, etc...). Then did the exact same thing above that 2" thick tape with another measured gap and put another 1" piece of tape. Painted the dark gray below the 2" tape, the blue between the 2" and the 1" tape, and when it was all done pealed the tape off. That thin light gray gap between the dark gray and blue was just the thickness of the 2" tape. Anyway I guess my explanation sounds complicated but it was incredibly easy, and came out great!

Blstr88 - First, congrats on a VERY nicely done job. One thing you did that I think makes a big difference is that you spaced your blue stripe away from the dark color rather than putting it right against it letting the lighter gray show. I think that makes such a nice difference.

Your Giants logo reminds me of an idea I've kicked around - not sure what you call it. Its when you take a small picture of something you like - football team logo, line drawing of a car you like, etc...and draw a grid over it, then use that grid spacing and transfer the image to a larger grid you draw on the wall. Someone here must know what that process is called. I was going to do it with my old Porsche, noe I' thinking of dong it with my '46 Chevy truck.

Just figured I would throw it out there on how I did it since Karnage asked.

I used one of those cheap laser levels that goes around the corners. I put my tape on using it and then painted over the tape with the same paint I used to paint the base coat on the walls with. This sealed the edges of the tape so I didn't get that dreaded bleed through. Then I painted the colors and removed the tape. It turned out great even with OSB instead of drywall.

I'll add my technique while we're at it:

I measured up from the floor to where I wanted the stripe, used a level and a pencil to draw a level line down the wall (since the floor is not level). I put my tape edge on the line and painted. Easy, quick, and level.

car99r - thanks for the tip on preventing the dreaded bleed through, can't believe it's that simple, but then again painting is not my deal. I'll may give it a try.

Blstr88 - very nice color combo, done mine similar ala a few shades lighter. Look forward to seeing more pics soon. Sorry, no artsy girlfriend here, wife wouldn't approve.

yamaha uses three tuning forks for there motorsports division logo, bet ya didnt know the reason why? hmmmm maybe because they started with music instraments first then went to motorsports, yes they still sell musical instraments... i am a yahama mechanic...
