finally finished

I have been working on this thing for way to long, decided to finish it up today. It was a light bar i built a while back. [ kinda prerunner style ] I had a 10,000 lb hitch laying around so decided to stick it up front for a removable winch or big d ring. I had to cut up the factory bumper pretty good to keep the approach angle acceptable. I have it bolted to the truck with 6 1/2" grade 8 bolts, do you think that is enough? I hope i never slam into the back of some little car with this thing, the car will be fubar. Do you guys think it looks ok, or am i pushing the limit's of hillbillyvill?

Nice looking set up, but keep an eye on your temp gauge. Those lights may restrict air flow.

Had lights up there for years flogging the southwest deserts and baja in 100 degree and up weather, Here is my last truck, never been an issue.

Worse case the frame rips or the bolts snap if you're winching. Either way as long as you have a blanket or something over the cable you should be ok if something does fail. 6 grade 8 bolts should be enough. I see Samurai owners winch with 4 grade 8 bolts. Samurai's don't weigh much though.

You don't do any kind of rock crawling or trails with rocks do you?

No rock crawling, some pre running, other than that the truck is used for pulling and as a chase vehicle in desert race's. The occasional camping trip to the the middle of nowhere in the mountains and sometimes it takes me to get grocery's. My hitch on the rear has 6 5/8 grade 8 bolts and i will never hook up to the front what i do to the back. The front should handle a 10,000 pound winch, or a D ring for getting hooked up to if i get stuck in the silt. We don't really play in the mud out here in the west to much.

I didn't think you did judging by where that steering stabilizer is placed. I highly doubt you'll have issues winching or with a d ring. I don't play in the mud either I prefer rocks.

One of these days i am going to install the PSC hydraulic assist kit that has been sitting in the corner of my shop for a year, and the steering stabilizer will go by-by. the new ram will sit higher then the axle tubes.
Got to go to king of the hammers this year, some of the stuff those guys go up is down right amazing, but rock crawling is not my passion at all.

When i first started to build it, the approach angle was less then the factory bumper by 3.5". i was not happy with that, so back to the garage, wound up cutting the factory bumper. and raising it as high as i could. Now it has a better approach angle then the factory setup. And it has the ability to smash a prius to complete fubar.
