For the past few months, I've been working on finishing my garage walls, upgrading lights, etc. In this process, I always had a set of wheel that was shuffled from corner to corner. In my small LA garage (17x19), a few things on the floor can quickly clutter a garage. One of my top priorities was getting a spare set of wheels off the floor. I spent A LOT of time looking for something that wasn't a $~100 chineesium grade rack that would be holding a set of wheels over my car.

I think I've found something that finally fit the bill. It's a rack made by a company called Safe Racks. My initial impressions when the box showed up were already looking up. The box was way heavier than I was expecting it to be, so that was good sign right away. Upon opening the box, I found grade 5 fasteners. Another pleasant surprise, since I was expecting mystery pot metal bolts at the price point. The install took about 15 minutes and I was really happy with the attractive design and how solid everything felt. The best part about all of this, is that it was $60 shipped. It was cheaper than most of the racks I came across, looked better, and felt solid being used for some "lets test it with pull ups". Without any tires, it does wiggle side to side since the center bar is adjustable, but once you place the tires on it, it becomes a lot more rigid. All in all, I think this is a great rack at a great price.

For those interested, you can find it here.

Hope this helps anyone looking to clear up some floor space. :)

That's a cool rack. Is there a backbar on it or do the tires just rest on against the wall?

That’s on my list when I have snow tires. I got no wall area to mount it too though.

It does have a bar on the back side. Looks kind of maxed out even with those wheels though.

Yup, back bar is keeping tires off the wall. Those 265/35/18's are about 25.3" in diameter. There's about another inch and a half of clearance between the wall and tire. Basically anything over 26.75" in diameter is going to start touching the wall.

As I say to the girl at the parts counter, "Hey, nice rack!"

If I ever get summer tires/wheels for the Miata, I'd get one of those. I have room elsewhere, but that's just cool.

You should be able to get 48” wide rack out of that and hit 2 studs.....at 16” and 24” oc.

I made one of similar design out of some angle and pipe I had around but for $60 that one looks like a steal. Especially if you've priced angle and pipe lately. If I had to buy the materials new I don't know if I could have beaten that price.
