All of this took about a year , had a lot of problems with local bylaws but finally got permission and dug the hole july 09. It is 28 x 38 with modified scissor trusses to get height for the hoist . the doors are fantastic , I can lift the vehicle right to the top without having to close the doors. I will post an overview to date . the outside is now in greycoat for acrylic stucco to match the house scheduled for spring . Let me know what you think

I really like that garage, the vaulted ceiling makes it look huge inside. I also like the woodstove, does it keep the place warm enough? I don't know if that your house in the background, but the offset dormers gives it a unique character.

Great idea with the doors and ceiling. Amazing the effect that raising the ceiling height can have on the overall feel of the space. I have a 9'6" ceiling in my garage, and every time I walk into my friends 8' tall garage I feel like the roof is coming down on me. ;)

The hoist , in the next few pics you can see the castors and my retractable trouble light . I wired in an outlet to run off the power for the hoist itself. I can use this hoist outside on the concrete driveway and it now is self sufficient whereever I put it.

We live in the southeast corner of Beautiful British Columbia Canada, just 1/2 hour north of the u.s. border with Washington USA. I meant to post a pic of the car last time so I will here ,the wood stove is locally made and I dont know how it works because I havent tried it yet . It is fully insulated so it shouldnt be a problem. One other note is the floor coating is U coat it .

Here is another pic of the door hoist clearance
