Our first home is finally getting built and should be done around September/October. Really wanted two garages but the oversized lots went too fast in the neighborhood so had to settle for one. The garage is a 20x40 2 story garage built on 10 foot studs and a Porte-cochère Got it as big as the builder would build. Also made an extra wide driveway (24ft) so hopefully I won't run outta parking when guests come over. I'll update progress as it's built and feel free to offer suggestions. I obviously wanted tons of concrete. Anyways, here we go!!

Thats really going to be nice. Pardon my ignorance but I have never seen that pink on the wall studs before. Is that some type of rot treatment?

Will you have an attached two or three car as well?

Unfortunately not. I really wanted 2 separate garages one being a 20 x 45 with a 14 ft door but we couldn't get the lot we wanted so had to settle for just one garage. All homes in the neighborhood are detached garages.

I love the 2 story. What made you choose a gambrel style roof? I'm guessing it gives you the most useable space with this style?

I can't really see a good look of your neighbor hood but from one of the pics it looks like you live in a very nice up beat neighborhood, I'm surprised your "hoa" isnt real strict with the style garage you are allowed to build...

Please keep us posted with updates.

The whole reason people move to this neighborhood is because of the garage options and the 10K+ sq foot lots. There is no other neighborhood in my city that has anything close to this place. The homes are built pretty decent but not a custom home by far. Typical builder grade stuff. The style of the garages are just how they do it. Pretty much barn style. They have multiple options but we went with the 4 car tandem with storage over the portecochere. Here'sa few pictures of the neighborhood I found on my computer. Shows a couple different garage options as well.

Nice build. Looks like a bunch of little barns to me in the neighborhood. You going to put a lift in?

Nice place!

Lift would be nice..maybe one day but as of now the garage is gonna have a boat, truck, and my other car in there. Not even built yet and I'm already out of room. Guess that's how it goes sometimes.

That is a very nice building you have there I'm very curious of how the inside will be. Please keep us posted

Inside will be either drywall or plywood walls eventually. Thinking about epoxy floors as well. We will also be finishing out the upstairs to have a gameroom one day but it's gonna be a while down the road. If only money wasn't an issue....

Garage is roofed and painted. Pretty much done for the most part until we move in which won't be until sept/october. Still gotta run electrical and what not. I'll keep the thread updated with the progress.
