I'll start by sharing this has been a work in progress.
In the beginning, there were four walls and a roof.
Well I got lucky, and started off with an original 1926 first growth all red wood rough cut structure.
All the original wood remains and I was intent on trying to be the custodian / care taker of what is a bit of a historic building with great bones. I took my time and projects abounded - the structure as mentioned was really only 4 walls and a roof with a complete **** tilting door which was added I believe in the early 70's and simply was out of "theme" to this wonderful structure, my like the entire 70's (my attempt at humor). Ok the only entrance was through the above mention door - up and down , up and down , up and down grrr. Plus it totally lacked security of any kind. First- project was cut a entrance that allowed a more sensible access - and allowed "out of view" from front street view from prying eyes. Aesthetics are critical, so a sliding barn door was the call. The door was hand made from 2x4 redwood - which overtime has held up well, however ended up painting its current "blue" which matches many other elements throughout my home. - You can also see the black gas pipe handle - which is also a reoccurring theme throughout also. I'll start with keeping it simple other than to share one other photo as things will start to get more interesting as I come back and update- ongoing. The third shot is from the front - which was all added "barn style swing doors and front addition all out of steel construction - ok one more photo to share I suppose, had to drop in the lift. I am a confessed tool junkie and enjoy restoration of certain types - which I'll post here and there moving ahead. For now...its been a great and satisfying endeavor, which continues.
