I have been lurking here for a few years now and drooling at everyone's beautiful garages. I have wanted to fix mine up ever since we built our home 5 years ago. I had some cheap "u-build" white melamine upper and lower cabinets from HD, put up a black chair rail of mdf molding, and painted the lower half gray.

Desperate for my own man space I made a deal with the wife, "if I can sell a bunch of junk we have laying around can I use the money to finish the garage?" Thinking my plan would not come to fruition she agreed. After a some elbow grease and pricing research I posted a bunch of items on Craigslist and the local 2-good-2-toss website. After a few weeks I managed to sell everything and made almost $400 bucks.

Much to my elation, the Craftsman club was offering a great deal on their benches and cabinets. I also stumbled across an amazing steal on their outlet store on garage tiles. Their garage tiles normally sell for about $110 for a box of 40. A Sears store in Seattle had 5 boxes of platinum and 2 boxes of black all for $23.99 a box. Needless to say I grabbed the phone and prayed they still had these. I'd still have to buy about 5 more boxes at full price but if I could get those 7 at that price it would save me a bunch of cash. After talking to 4 different people I found someone who understood that I was looking for items they had on the clearance outlet site. The planets must all have been in alignment for me because the clerk comes back and says they actually have 8 boxes of platinum and 4 of the black. I bought them all over the phone and was on the road for the 4 hour roundtrip ride to Seattle. Everything looked great, someone had ordered them and returned them and they had been sitting there for months.

I feel that Racedeck is a superior product and their staff is fantastic to work with. It was a real pleasure dealing with them to get a quote on my floor covering and they even followed up by sending a sample of their product. Compared to the Craftsman, which is actually made by another company called Sports Court Inc I believe, Racedeck is a tad thicker, has much less flex to it, and the male ends are a better design. I connected the tile they sent me to one of the Craftsman tiles and the seam was much tighter than between two of the sears tiles. If money was no object I would definitely go with Racedeck, but at $0.60 a square foot it was a no brainer for me.

Enough rambling though, here are the picture of my new garage. I still want to add some posters, a neon clock, and some other personalized touches, but I am pretty happy with how it all turned out. The best part is that with everything: bench, wall cabinets, fridge, and flooring the final bill was under $900.

Thanks for the comments. Every time I pull into the garage I get a big smile on my face.

No fair, You can park your cars in your garage:confused:

Funny you say that... I see it in Oklahoma all the time. A two car garage will be so full of stuff that they can't even park one car in it. It would be interesting to see, but I bet the car is worth much more than the stuff that is being stored.

Looking good!

What are the certificates on top of the cabinets?

Those are some of my awards from when I was in the Army. They had been sitting in a box for years so I thought it might be nice to actually put them up somewhere.

Looks really nice. Saw the license plate on the wall. Former North Carolinian?

I was stationed in NC from 93-98. It is a beautiful state, to bad Fayetteville is such a hole. Chapel Hill is a blast, did lots of good drinkin up there.
