Finally got the garage done today...

...well as done as ANY garage ever is, LOL. I'm still waiting on my workbench, I was going to build one, but thought a Craftsman model would actually fit/look better, considering all the other Craftsman items I have.

I have been reading/learning a lot and used quite a few ideas from this site, I've also been active on the flooring section of the board, I decided on the POR-15 Floor Armor and it turned out very nicely.

Here are the shots, from beginning to as it sits today, please feel free to post your comments, I'm always happy to get feedback, either good or constructive criticism, I can take it. LOL I have some details to attend to, a 20x22 shed will help alleviate some crowding (once it's built)...but all in all, I'm pretty happy with the results!

Thanks! It took about 1 month of off days to get the garage done the way I wanted it.

I was lucky though, we didn't move into the house until the garage was nearly finished (the floor, painting, electrical outlets and 20 overheard lights were done) so I didn't have any clutter to move around. We moved in about a week ago and during that week I've been working on it and finally got it finished (hanging cabinets, wall posters, peg boards, etc and building shelves).

Actually ,the garage is home to my Ram (which BARELY fits) and the Formula...the Jeep and the 4Runner are being kept outside...

But, as you can tell I do have a warm spot for both Pontiacs and Dodges/Plymouths :)

Thanks for all the good comments fellas, I appreciate them! The wife and I worked pretty hard on it, it came together pretty much as I envisioned it. :beer:

I love it. Can I ask what kind/brand and colors of paint you used on the walls? I am redoing my husbands garagew for him while he's in Iraq as a surprise, and I'm having a hard time picking guy colors for the walls.

What a GREAT idea!!! He'll love it. I know that would have been a nice treat to come home to after a deployment for me!!!

Anyhow, I used Behr Premium (from Home Depot) gray/white primer and paints. I used semi-gloss white for the ceiling, semi-gloss gray on the walls, and the semi-gloss red stripe.

I can get you the actual paint mixing ratios if you want, I may even still have the color cards I chose the colors from and can give you the names of them...if you wish. Just tell me which colors you want the codes/names of :)

I believe the breakdown was:
5 gallon bucket of gray primer
2 gallons of white primer
2 gallons of white semi-gloss
4 gallons of gray semi-gloss
1 gallon of red semi-gloss

That is an awesome job, and nice looking house too.
I am thinking of doing something similar with a red stripe in my garage
when i get it to that point.

How are prices in Charles Town compared to Leesburg, VA?

Wow - awesome garage. I'm a long-time lurker here - just had to respond because we're also in a Dan Ryan house but over in Lovettsville in the Sequioa model (just a bit up 340 from you) (also looks like they put a lot of upgraded fixtures in your house!). We also went with a gray paint scheme. I'll post pics up here once I get my floor in, which won't be until it gets warmer. And maybe after I borrow some of your wall design ideas. LOL!

Again - great job. Nice house!

Love the organization and everything. I only have one question for you though. Looking through the pictures I noticed that you can see all the drywall seams, who was responsible for finishing the garage? Not here to critize by any means, just curious.

Yea and the semi gloss paint makes it stick out more. I just had a guy come in and redo all my seams in my garage. Here in NJ they just put one coat on and call it done in the garage due to labor cost. I have a few spots still that drive me crazy and I used egg shell paint.

Its a great looking house!

The prices are dramatically lower in Charles Town in comparison to Leesburg. I drive through Leesburg every day on my commute to work, and sometimes I DO wish I lived there! It would make my commute much quicker.

Actually I was...the garage was completely bare before I got my hands on it.

I finished it last summer in July/August, when it was consistently in the high 90s -- I was NOT a happy camper, LOL. I had a limited amount of time off from work and had to hit what needed done immediately, before all my gear showed up.

The dry wall joints absolutely should have been mudded, I just didn't have the time...sometimes I regret it. I used semi-gloss for light reflection, which of course enhances any defects and lack of craftsmanship...:lol_hitti

OMG - what a piece of.....class! It's gonna be a shame to get it dirty (though I'm guessing you don't do bodywork!) Oh well, a garage is like Lingerie (kinda). Looks good when just put on, looks better when crumpled on the floor!
Anywho - have fun in there!

Great job on the home and the garage.
We just closed on our new home, that we had built, now comes the fun part of furnishing it with flooring, cabinets, etc. GOing to a fun process.
I too will not place anything in the garage, until it is completed.
