I've been a member lurking on here since 2011. At that time I was only 19 and in college already looking at outfitting my garage and future garage goals. My wife and I bought our first house in San Diego in 2019 after moving around a few times after college and sold it less than a year later in 2020 to move to Colorado. I always wanted a place with space for a second garage or be able to expand the attached garage, neither of which San Diego offered me. Getting a second chance at a house, and being in Colorado, meant I had a better shot to get a place with a detached garage already built or space to build one. My wife liked the house without the garage but with space available so that's where we are at now!
I have been working on drawings and plans to hopefully get started late this year/ early next year. Hoping to be able to build a 22 wide x 40 deep x 12 tall stick built. HOA has some rules about matching the house and maximum size but not set in stone on paper. There's another house in the neighborhood same as ours with a 21 x 40 x 11'4" so I know the size is not far off.
Can't wait to get started and thanks everyone for all the ideas over the years!
