ok, so a little back story. I'm 24 and was raised building cars with my dad. I've always just used his tools (he's got an absurd amount of snap-on, and at least two of everything). recently I decided that since I'm building two cars for myself (78 mgb & 53 chevy 5 window) that I should at least use my own tools. so I took the leap and moved my junk to our shop. I think I've got most anything I could need, anything you can think of?

Pretty awesome start for a 24 year old.
I'm sure it will come in very handy in the years to come.
Good luck.

Your collection is impressive for a person of any age, but for 24 years old, unbelievable. And the organization is incredible.

thanks! I've worked for a few years to get where I am. still a ways to go as far as specialty tools, but I plan to just bye those as I need them.

I actually rarely use them. I had a gift card and they we're cheap. I'd like to get some nice ones, but these will hold me over for a while I hope.

My Williams are colored and they cut great.

Awesome idea with the socket rail holding the nut drivers! I have the same set and they have just been rolling around and ******* me off.........until now. I literally climbed out of bed just to arrange my nut drivers as you have.

you need to upgrade your calculator.....

Just kidding.
That is ample to get the ball rolling. Your projects will dictate what you get next...

Very nice, looks like you spent some money now the only problem is if your stuff gets to nice than your dad will borrow from you!

Where did you get the rail that hold your nut drivers and how does it mount?

3 drawers of wrenches? That's cray cray man.

Is a nearly complete assortment of metal though man. The good thing about that is you don't got to run to the store to get anything else. I don't see any t handles though. Need the t handles. Maybe not too many (or any) security screws on the older stuff but don't they have hex?

yeah, one metric, one standard, and one set of craftsman extras. I actually have a set of hex handles at home but literally never use them. all the older stuff can usually be accomplished with hex sockets on a ratchet.

Yeah man, I'm not seeing any ROTO-Ratchets, you're gonna want to get yourself a set of them bastards. Nice set of tools, btw. Dang.

duly noted. I'll look into those... my ratchet collection is pretty bare bones...

Could you please tell me who makes those green punches?
Thanks

Harbor Freight.

I have the same set. The chisels aren't great for metal work- they're a little soft. But the roll pin and taper punches work just fine. I think the whole set was like $10.

Very nice man.

I will also be stealing the socket rail idea for the nutdrivers. I never would have thought of that!

P.s. what brand of finger/palm rat is that? The big round one right below the Craftsman driver.

Also, in pic 6, what type of tool/file are those? They look like they are slightly cupped at the end? I have one that is useful in remounting the seals on brake pistons, but I've never known what it actually is?!

As a person that uses his sheet metal snips on a daily basis, get the midwest ones, with the offset, i cant tell you how many wiss ones I have broken or seen broken.

Midwest used to make them for Craftsman, and due to what I assume was guys in the trade wearing them out/dull and then smacking them with a hammer to chip the tip, they no longer carry the Craftsman name, but are the exact same, One Red handled set and One green, personally I also like a set of bulldogs around for thicker stuff, you can still get them with the Craftsman name.

Dude, it looks like you're going to have to keep borrowing from your Dad. I don't see a doohickey, whatchamacallit, or thingamajig in there anywhere

You are restoring my faith in America's youth.

I would buy a DVOM. I have a Chinese Fluke that I like (15B). You might find a better used one for what I paid new. I'm not convinced you need bells and whistles, just something you can count on.

You appear lite in bit sockets- eventually (not with the current cars you are working on) you'll need more torx- possible swivels or stubbys (I'm looking for these myself), ball allens, stubby allens etc.

Also look to pick up a set of swivel sockets when you can.

I would invest in some sort of fan belt tool- I use S-O XDHR hi performance wrenches, but these are over kill.

Where are the mirrors, flashlights, mag parts dishes?
