Got the clamps mounted on the wall. Now they're organized. Trying to decide whether to mount cabinet sides and doors. Thoughts?
Excuse the mess, still working on the woodshop and things are scattered.

Wow how much $ do you estimate that is in clamps?

Looks great!

A lot! It looks to me like there's at leat 75 Bessey K body clamps and another 25 Jorgensen parallel clamps. These all retail around $50 each.

Then you've still got the F clamps, quick-grip clamps, spring clamps and wood handscrew clamps on top of that.

But I still can't say that's "too many clamps" since I don't see any C clamps. ;)

can all of those be accessed from standing?

envious of the clamps, and numbers of them... but being 5' 8" I see them being out of my reach (mid height people problems I know.

any reason you didn't go 2 or more deep for each?
even just back to back (1face wall, 2nd face open air) would take up 1/2 the wall space , and use more open air space.

That's a very impressive collection, I'd be showing those off too. Nice job!

Yup you can never have too many clamps. That looks really nice, I need to do the same in my shop but I'm not going that high up the wall.

Look carefully above the hand clamps, there's about 25 C clamps with the spring clamps in between the C clamps.

The walls are 12 feet high so I took advantage of that and set the clamps high. I can reach the bottom of all of them using a 1 foot step stool. I did leave about a foot below the ceiling for future use. I need to install the 3/4" Maxine air supply and thinking about adding 6" crown molding in the future (I'm setting shop up to be convertible into a 2 bedroom guesthouse if I sell down the road).

I bought the Peachtree clamp racks rather than build my own and they only allow 1 deep.

I admire your extensive collection. I have perhaps two dozen woodworking clamps, not counting my C-clamps, that I hang against a wall on an angle iron frame I built and bolted to the floor. I've never needed to use more than a dozen clamps at one time, just not enough bench space.

It is often said, and has been said in this thread, that "you can never have enough clamps."

Having an abundance of clamps myself, although nowhere near that many parallel clamps, I must object to that statement. You USUALLY can not have enough clamps, but when it comes time to move.... you can find that you have way too many damn clamps!

I thought I had a lot of clamps! you put me to shame. What kind of rack are you using. I have a piece of aluminum rigged up to hold mine but I am not happy with it.

Thanks, I been buying them for about 10 years.

There's 15 clamp racks that bought from Peachtree Woodworking. Available in 24" that hold 12 bar clamps as well as a 48" rack that holds 25 clamps.

The 40" clamps I can reach from the floor, I also have a foot stool handy if I need to reach the 31" clamps. The Cabinet Masters are too heavy duty and I've only used them once in the 10 years I'vI had them. They were the first clamps I bought and then decided I''d rather have Bessey's.

You might be able to reach those clamps on the upper level, but I'd predict some pinched skin in your future when you grab those clamps from the end of the clamp bar and the handle end slides down into your hand. Don't ask how I know this.

I found that out many years ago to ALWAYS tighten the clamp handle tightly before hanging the clamp.

Nice looking shop!!
Acquiring clamps is a life-long endeavor.
Just when you think you have enough, you tackle a project that requires a couple more than you have. I find this all the time in the automotive hobby--especially putting in floors or other sheet metal replacement projects.
I've got a few pipe clamps and J-clamps, but most of mine are C-clamps and Vise-Grips.
Not that many, but I buy used and am picky when I buy them.

NICE organization of yours. I've got my c-clamps organized, but don't have my vise-grips on a rack on the wall yet. That's my next project.

I think you may just have hit the Nail on the head with that comment LOL:lol_hitti

Awesome array of Clamps! You seem like you might know a thing or two about Clamps so I figured I could ask you for an initial recommendation for what clamps to purchase??

I obviously yours is a lifetime of collecting but as someone starting out to outfit a new shed/shop and the costs involved in this what clamps would you recommend for the initial purchase??

I have bought a pair of the Irwin XP Clamp Quick-Grip range in each of the sizes 6",12",18",24",36",50", so have a fair head-start in that department but
would like some recommendations for the next 'type' and brand suggestion/length/number off??

Initially I will be using heavy stuff 3" x 2" Shelving etc. and building my own workbench etc hence going up to 50" off the bat but considered just topping up with some cheaper Jorgenson quick-clamps in say 6-12" But really guess I should have some 'F'-clamps and or parallel maybe? so what should my next say 6-10 clamps be for a general base covering? (as you say you can only use 10 at a time really anyway but which 10 for a start-up?

Impressive collection! I always hear "you can never have too many clamps" although I've never found myself needing more than 8-10 at one time.

Black: not sure i'd take up that much wall space with clamps, but you surely have the clamps so if you have the wall space then WELL DONE.

if you might need the wall space for cabinets or racks another idea i've seen some pretty handy guys do is make a nice triangle shaped stand on casters that will hold a ton of clamps and roll around to your job or into a corner when not in use.

here's a thread i started a while back that has a lot of clamps and if you want to post yours and maybe some pictures of how you use them please do.

thanks
