I've been quiet until now because we only moved into our new home last week!

First thoughts about the garage. First: it's huuuuuge! Second: it needs a lot TLC to get it into the 21st century.

Looking at the original plans (1970), it's clear that the garage was designed as some sort of barn for small animals. All that's left of that original design are two remaining horse boxes at the end of the garage. I will not take them down. One is going to be used as storage and the other will be my paint shop (dust-free!).

But, before it's dust-free, there's a lot of work to be done. Let's start by removing all cobwebs and mice droppings...

First up is rewiring. It's a rickety mess at the moment. Not unsafe, but it's not what I like. New light fixtures, new sockets at convenient places and a central switch to kill all power is highest on my list. A friend's youngest son is a 'sparky' apprentice and that young man is coming over to re-install everything during teh Xmas holidays. Currently, I'm contemplating - and drawing a plan for that.

After rewiring, repairing and painting the walls is next. I'm spray-painting the walls with white wall paint and a darker lower part. Grey I suppose. Followed by doing the floor. I need to go through a lot of postings here regarding the floor!

the heart is the electric panel. Keep in mind that you are more likely to run out of ports than amps so get a big one. The price difference is not that much.

I had re-used a pic from my introduction posting last Summer, but somehow it didn't work: I needed more postings first. So, with a total of 5 postings, here we go again.

Pic from the seller, last August:

- The horse boxes are straight ahead. One is partly broken down and will act as the workshop with various worktops.
- Mancave is situated in between the position of the guy who took the pic and the workshop part (enclosed with cabinets that act as walls)
- On the spot where the pic was taken, a home gym.
- On the long left side of the workshop: a boat (dinghy; my oldest son's Laser) in the rear.
- In front of the dinghy + trailer: my 'daily' trailer, the Triumph TR and the Porsche; all on castor wheel'd plates for easy moving around.
- Finally in the front left corner a spot for the mower and gardening tools. (Big fan of Stihl! And - I'm on the look-out for a proper mower. US built Ariens has drawn my attention)

I'll start making more pics as soon as we start working on the electrics.

Gorgeous. Is that a paint booth I see back there?
Geez, high ceiling for a lift, a separate area for metal and one for woodworking.
What’s not to love.

As for me, the po’boy, I need to start sleeping with richer women......
Back to my two-car to squeeze through another overly large project.

Wow, a big space with character, AND a nice concrete floor! So many older bldgs like that have busted up concrete or even dirt floors.

What is that corrugated metal, is that uninsulated roofing? Or is that the finished ceiling? Just curious.

That is a really cool looking shop. I really like the look of the exposed brick.
Oh, and the fact that it is big!
