Finally moved out from parents house! - CT

Greetings from Connecticut!

My name is Alex and I'm 22 years old and I just purchased my first home! Working 2 jobs and 70+ hrs a week has finally paid off. The home is a 3 BR, 2 Bath, with a finished basement and a small attached garage. To say the least, this house needs a lot of love.

One of my favorite parts of the entire house is that I now have a garage to store my car in. I'm a huge car fan (currently have 2009 Subaru Impreza), and always dreamed of having a functional garage that I can do all my maintenance and upgrade work. I hope to get some great ideas for storage on this site and learn how to swing a hammer a little more on my own. As you can imagine, I'm on a tight budget so most of my work will happen slowly over time since I have plenty of money/ time that needs to be put into the actual house. Lots and Lots of planning for now.

My plans include but not limited to:

Finished walls/ insulated
Heat/ AC
Work Bench
Plenty of lighting
Storage of car parts
Air compressor

If you are remodelling/fixing up the house, I would start with a solid workbench in the garage along with a larger work table (plywood and sawhorses would work), maybe the compressor as well, makes the remodelling go faster. Welcome and have fun.

Thank you! I absolutely agree about a solid work bench/ table. I need something to do odd and end jobs without damaging any of the new cabinets/ counter tops I just purchased. My father has a decent sized compressor at his shop and he is allowing me to keep it and use it at my house. I havent looked at the size or even the brand of it yet.

Thank you! Its a big learning process for me but I enjoy learning to do things myself the proper way instead of paying someone 10x more for them to do it. Plus, since I know its my own house, I take a lot more pride in the work I'm doing instead of just rushing to get it over with.
