Hey guys

been lurking around for quite awhile now. So many of you guys have amazing garages and projects.

Growing up my parents had a decent sized piece of property but my dad was never really in to anything mechanical. Luckily for me my uncle was heavily into cars and motorcycles. He had a 50,000 square ft shop w/ everything imaginable, lathes, mills, paint booths, lifts, cranes....I really didn't know how good I had it until I moved to socal 10 years ago. After college and gradschool my wife and I moved into an apt with a tiny garage that barely fit my MKI GTI.

Well we just recently decided to move to Colorado where we can afford way more than we ever could out here. Looking forward to posting pics of whatever we buy in the next month or so.

Thanks guys. We are pretty excited for the move. It is crazy what we can get and where we can get it in CO compared to here in Ca.

We actually almost closed on a deal a few days ago but the more we talked about it the more we felt like we were trying to talk ourselves into being inlove with it.

The next day my wife found this sweet place in a great neighborhood on a really great sized lot. We made an offer last night and they countered us this morning. We signed there counter so here we go.

So it officially happened today. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1375850938.480182.jpg
Garage is a side by side but is almost double deep. I think it's long enough to fit the gti & e30 in back to front. Also wired up w/ 220 & a giant space heater. I finally have a real garage....& a pretty sweet work shop in back.

Welcome to the GJ from VA!
Wow, 50,000 square feet! I can only imagine...
Congratulations on your purchase!! Looks like you're on the right path! Keep that wife - looks like she made a nice find of the house & shop - and you...

Thanks Dubber!

She is on stands right now...... She hates the altitude here and needs a new fuel tank (which is currently sitting next to her just need to find some time)

As for the hiatus....not too long after I posted this I came home from a trip to 3 floors of water. I just moved back in last night after about 5 months. Good news is that I got a lot of stuff done that I was going to do anyway. Bad news is my house is still currently a construction zone and I have no kitchen. My wife is thrilled. Also puts the garage and car/mc projects on the back burner for a little while.

yeah insurance is covering it. They still owe me some money. The other thing that sucked was that in the disclosure it says that the house is asbestos free....turns out the house is full of asbestos. I worked in abatement when I was in college so that part doesn't freak me out, but definitely a headache and could have some affect on the resale of the house. So probably going to have to go after the previous owner for that.

Insurance comapnies ****. They have definitely slowed this whole process down.
