finally, my welder circuit is done

I decided to just go to get the 50A breaker and 6 awg wire. it's more than this lincoln MP ask for. In case I get a electric car this setup would support up to 40A continuous charging. It should be easy to adapt to a charging station, but I didn't run a neutral.

But this is about welding, I plan to get a TIG eventually and wasn't sure what I may end up getting. For welding I am pretty much future proofed.

I only needed a few feet but the 6 NM is fairly DIFFICULT to work with. wire only costed $8. But getting the wires in place it actually took much longer than I anticipated. In the end securing the box to the stud, 4-11/16 box, raco 878 cover. I am glad I decided to surface mount instead of messing with plastic in wall boxes.

It says I can GMAW weld up to 5/16" with 0.035" wire, should I be getting some of those? I only have 0.025" now.

I know I asked a few times over some period of time about all aspects of these things, so thanks everyone who helped on the project!

By the way.. I could use an extension cord, any ideas?

Some 8-3 SO cord should be rated to pass 40 amps if you want to make one.

These will run all those size wires but,,,, if you have a steady diet of auto body then 023 is good but they are really an 030 machine and bigger only helps slightly for thicker. The small wire is so small, the 030 gives it a lot more punch. Ready made cords are number 8 due to the fact they can be used on heavy 250 migs. The machine you have needs a 12 or better.
Depends on a couple of things. if I am going to use it for other machines and making it use 10. The terminations are mote secure than 12 and it's not to uncomfortable to handle. Works for buzz boxes which need 50A breakers.

I just finished an electrical upgrade for my Lincoln 210 MP too! I used conduit, so I ran THHN wire for the circuit.

Here is the extension cord I chose. I really like it, in the month or so I have been using it. It has the little light in the outlet end, so you know it is plugged in and has power. Definitely a high-quality fit and finish. Nice, clear, molded plugs.

About $75 USD for a 25 foot (8 meter) extension cord.

I just saw this one, I can't seem to build one myself cheaper as the SOOW 8/3 is around $3 a foot, before having the plug ends, I think I have to pick that one up

If you want to go with 8awg for the extension that one on Amazon is probably your best bet. I made one with 10/3 SO cord that I got cheap at Lowes, it was on the remnants rack, but I believe that's the biggest SO cord they sell. Both of my welders only require 30A circuits, and I don't plan to stay here long enough to see an electric car in my garage.

I think you'd be fine with some .023 and .030 MIG wire, even on larger stuff. Though I pretty much only TIG weld, so I can't be too sure on this.

023 is so fine its hard t see that little ****** and the 030 will carry substantially more current. Its about as much as these little machines will output. 10 cords are used on 50A welder circuits all the time. About the only place that needs a bigger one is 250 migs and then its for a different process with larger wires, different gas than most use at home. I have welded an hour with both buzzers and feeders, cords don't even get warm.
The buzzers actually allow 12, I think the Stickmate is 84 ft of it. There is quite a bit of V drop, it works fine but with 10 it about goes away as a concern.

023 for thin sheet or 120V machines, 030 for 180-210 class and 035 for 230-250 for common short circuit work. Another advantage of 030 over 035 is it can also be turned down for thinner work.
