Well its been a long, long time coming. Finally build my 36x48 building and now finally decided on Bend Pak as my lift of choice. My choices where Bend Pak, Revolution and direct lift. Well after count less emails and requests of information and the tons and tons of questions I had about lifts Jeff a VP from Bend Pak, patiently answered all the questions, concerns and addressed any issues I had. He was very helpful and honest, he never blew me off and was always quick to respond to my emails even on the weekend and after his normal business hours. Jeff provided me with more information than I ever could have known about lifts and Bend Pak. Cant ask for better dedication than that. Another thing that impresses me about Bend Pak is, if you or Bend Pak sees a way to make the product better they do it and fast! They are always looking to improve on there product line. I don't think the other companies care that much about there customers after the sale. I did call Gregg Smith sales (direct lift) once and I was not impressed with the answers or service on the phone. I think that they will sell you the lift but that is about it, if you have a problem forget it, will they improve on it doubt it, they just sell what they get. I am very confident that if, and I mean if, I have any type of problem that Bend Pak will immediately try and correct or replace anything they have to, in order to make me happy and fix the lift. All I can say is that if you are looking at a lift, take a hard look at Bend Pak, I did for a couple years and they are the best IMHO!! I cant wait to get it installed, probably be early next week.

Besides the customer service, did you find the BenPak to be of superior quality/engineering over the other two makes? Are the air locks a real deal breaker?
I am asking, because like you, I have been looking at lifts for months and still can't make up my mind!

are you asking or saying bend pak has air locks and is that a good or bad thing???
what about rotary lift, forward or mohawk...why not one of these as a least one is American made and bend pak I believe is made for bend pak in china, am I not correct??

There's no doubt that the BendPak 4 post lifts are made in China. I understand the power unit is USA. (someone correct me if it's not)

Most of the 4 post lifts around this price point and cheaper are made in China.

I looked awhile, and I bought the HD9 for several reasons. I wanted the air-locks as opposed to the mechanical locks. I also liked the redundant safeties at each corner. The ALI rating was a good thing too. I have found the quality on mine to be very good. I've had mine for a few years and have been well pleased.

A friend got a Backyard Buddy. It was much more costly than mine, and while it's certainly a good lift, I personally don't like how it rides on the outside of the columns.

I know this is going to sound like a Bend Pak commercial but....We bought a Bend Pak HD9XW last year and have used it a lot more than we had expected. It has worked flawlessly during that time and still does. We as well as some other Bend Pak owners needed to fine tune our lift configuration for lowered cars and Bend Pak came through in helping to solve our needs. They designed and built special lowered top and side bars sections and a specialized set of lift pads to go with thier RJ45 rolling jacks to acommodate lowered vehicles. They also custom built a special lift for a customer that is now available to others requiring the same style of lift. That in itself shows me they are willing to do what it takes to make thier product more universal for the end user. As with any product made here in the U.S. or China, Japan, BF Egypt or where ever, there are always pieces or parts that inevitably slip through the QC dept. That is just a fact of life in any business. Bend Pak has bent over backwards to rectify those problems as quickly as possible for the customer at thier cost without hassle. I have seen them step up and replace parts for lifts that **in my opinion** looked like user error damage, not a manufacture defect. They have rectified issues with tough customers and still bent over backwards to fix the issue. I have always said thier Customer service alone was worth it, the great product is just icing on the cake.

Darkk's post basically sums up the reasons why I'm going with an HD-9 once I get the 26 server racks out of my garage.

I purchased and installed a BendPak XPR9 a couple of months and it's been in use daily since. I haven't had a problem, works great. I have been a certified welder for over 35 years so of course first thing I check are the welds in the construction.........I'm not impressed, but that being said, Bend Pak uses enough gussets/brackets of overcome any problems.
(It seems now-a-days factories will use anyone for a welder, with very little training) And yes, it is manufactured in China, the hydralic unit is US built.

For me the air locks are a nice upgraded feature. No linkage to deal with sticking out and having to hold the leaver while lowering the car all the way down. I have not received the lift yet, to comment on the quality but I am sure it will be very nice. I am 100% sure I made a good choice for my lift purchase from Bend Pak. They treated me like I was there most important customer like I was buying a million dollars worth of lifts. They where so helpful I could not ask for better customer service and Jeff at Bend Pak is a great guy to ask questions about his products. You will not go wrong with jeff and bend pak!

I am very happy with my Bendpak lifts, and the service that I received from Bendpak (and Jeff in particular). You will not regret your choice.

You can see my lifts here http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=155575

Your right "Jeff in particular" I know no other company would have hung in there with me as long as Jeff did. He always answered my questions quickly and honestly, he explained things in great detail and provided me all the lift information I could absorb about lifts and Bend Pak. I have some emails going back to 2010 with Jeff and not once did he ever pressure me or give up on answering my countless emails! I am telling you they way I was treated by Jeff speaks volumes about the Bend Pak brand and if the after sale service is half as good I will be a happy man. I doubt many of the other companies would have continued with me and my countless emails, i am sure they would have stopped emailing me and wrote me off as just a PITA, and not a possible future customer. Bend Paks warranty was also another selling feature for me, it beats out direct lifts for sure.

Over the 2 years I have been talking with Jeff I have seen him address issues with customers about lift improvements and design changes. Jeff not only listens but implements the changes asap in order to please his customers or improve on the lift design and features. Lets see if Direct lift will do that for you!

I am planning on ordering a Bendpak 2 post in the next few weeks. My question is have you guys bought directly from bendpak or a dealer? In my searches I have only found dealers. Can anyone direct me to this Jeff you speak so highly of?

[email protected] Jeff will answer any questions you may have. Bend Pak does not sell direct to customers. Tell him John from Indiana gave you his email and told you to email him. He will enlighten you about lifts and Bend Pak.

I highly recommend ASEDEALS.COM. Virtually any dealer will be drop shipping the lift from Bendpak, so your choice is more about the communication from and how you are treated by the dealer. I have purchased multiple times from ASEDEALS and they have treated me very well.

I think you made the right choice man. Have Bend Pak at work, and there has never been any problems with them, unlike other brands.

I also like them, the website is pretty tricky to try and look through, but they are good stuff: another suggestion is Garage Equipment Supply.

I haven't bought a lift from them but I have bought a load of other stuff and they have been very customer-oriented to me. Plus their website is a little easier on my brain. Good stuff, props to BendPak, ASE, and GES. :rocker:

Congrats roaddog. You won't regret the purchase. I went with a 9XW as well and have a '95 Mustang on it! Nice car.

If you don't mind, how tall are your ceilings? I am going back and forth between the 2 post and the 4 post and I have 10' ceilings. Just trying to decide what I want. 2 post has that floor plate that seems it will be in the way. Thanks

have an 11' ceiling, and it is fine for most common cars, however, since I have uncommon cars (antique ambulances), I could use some additional space above, but that isn't possible. I have worked under my cars, which weigh in excess of 8000 pounds and feel perfectly comfortable rolling around on a chair with wheels. I also have the rolling jack, and it has made everything a lot easier for me. I can't find any thing on my Bend Pak lift that I would change, except for the color. I would have preferred red to blue, so it would match my ambulances. Since the lift is blue, I had to buy a blue ambulance to match. :lol_hitti

My ceiling is 12 feet tall. 10 feet will work but you probable dont need the extra tall lift, like I got. unless you want to raise it out of the way unloaded, to keep it off the floor and not take up space.

How much form the install? Also, did bendpak find you an installer, or, did you find the person/company yourself? I want to get one this month, well in November 2012 and want to make sure the installer knows what the heck they are doing.

I am guessing $600-$800 for install? Also, did installer go and get the lift for you? How did you get it to your house? I was told they ship to a terminal and you have to go pick it up? I live in Dallas Texas, just FYI.

Thanks

Install prices vary from place to place but I would say 600 -800. In bend paks site they have a list of installers you search by area and call one. Or stop by a auto shop and see who they use. If you use an installer they should pick it up at the terminal and deliver to you at time of install. If you install yourself then you pick it up at terminal or Bend pak can ship to your house if you have the equipment to off load the lift.

I rented a flat bed trailer and picked mine up from the shipping company.
I would strongly consider installing it yourself with some help if possible. This allows you to learn the lift and its parts better.

Yeah, do the install yourself with the help of a buddy.. Its not real hard, and you get a great understanding of how the lift operates

I have 12 foot ceiling. for me the four post works best. You can store and stack cars above and below. With a rolling jack you can do most anything you could do with a 2 post. You dont have to anchor a 4 post so you can move it around if needed.

I have 2 of the rj-45 rolling jacks and man those things are great!

I went with the 2 post lift with the floor plate and love it. I also have 10' ceilings and it works for what I need it for. I have pulled 2 transmissions in the few months I have had it and the floor plate has not been in the way. I chose to have one of Bendpak's certified installers come and put it up. I could have done it but it would have taken me some time to do it. They had it done in a couple of hours and I have the comfort knowing when I'm under it that a professional installed it and not myself with no experience installing lifts.

Happy for ya. I've had a Stinger by AXE for about 10 years. I use it A LOT and never had so much as a burp out of it. I particularly like that I'm able to move it around the shop with the casters. I've even moved it, from one side of the shop to the other, with a car on the lift, by myself!
