So what exactly did you end up paying? It's a gorgeous box but that's going to be a nightmare to keep clean. I loved my ultra yellow roll cab until I found out I'd be wiping off a thousand greasy finger prints everyday.

Well with dark color boxes you get to see every single spec of dust that's flying around your shop which I find is a much bigger problem than grease prints (I either wear gloves or wash my hands a lot personally). Given a choice i'd take a white/light colored box over a black/blue one any day of the week. Not that it really matters since its just a tool box but white also hides physical damage like dents and scratches the best.

Awesome I already have a royal blue 68 epic but I have been going over a white 84 in my head for weeks lol. Not sure I have the space for the MR BIG. Too cool! White is classy and bold but I think it would be easy to keep clean especially a box because most of us work primarily out of a large cart anyways.

TO the OP - Congrats! Very nice! ...Although I think you would love a box like that even more if you used it everyday.

Ok this looks like a nice box. But to all those who say it is the box of the future (and similar comments) can you explain to someone not in the know (me) why this box is so special? Maybe it is just because I'm looking at the thread from my phone, but it just looks like a really big box with a nice flat surface and possibly a couple places to remotely plug in power. Will someone explain? I'm not dissing the purchase at all...I just want to know more about it.

Thanks.

IMO, it's something you do have to work up to after having a few other boxes. When the Epiq series came out, I thought "I'll never buy one of the those, my KRL series boxes work fine." But once I saw one in person and got to see all the features first hand, I started the wheels turning toward a trade up. If you want to know why get one, just go research them a bit and you will find they did answer some minor issues with other boxes. None of them a big deal in themselves, but when you package the whole deal together......well, I'll admit I was sold....and it was my first box bought just 'cause I wanted it rather than running out of room and had to buy more tool storage after many years wrenching.

A kid I work with has a 68" white epic and it is easier to keep clean than my black box. I been working on my driver about trading in my krl1022 bottom with the krl1201 chest for a box like you just bought but he's way too far off. He wants to give me about $6k and wants retail on the new box. Bad thing is I want to buy a hutch at the same time so he should have quite a bit of room to work with on the price.

Wow, you gotta work on that dealer more - I traded a 1022 / 1201 also with a side locker and got a lot more than that one trade, but I also bought a 84" with one locker and hutch....It's all relative, I guess....

Beautiful box Warmpancakes. Is this an upgrade box or an addition?

No cooler drawer for the beverages? :dunno:

Its a upgrade, It will replace 2 of the 4 boxes in the garage, a matco MB8100 and a snap on kr555b ,

My driver threw in the Epiq mini fridge with the deal, Im still working him on the BBQ. Got the area rep to toss in the cover and a tool credit for use on the truck, So im very happy with the deal Ive said it before I have a great driver who also worked the area boss for the deal and knows all the promotions going on so we did alot of deal stacking. Now to decide side cabinet of riser?

For some reason I just find that hilarious!

Someone will always disagree with tool box of the future.

As automobile technology has progressed, so have the tools and skill sets required to repair them.

More and more techs are switching over to cordless ratchets and impacts.

More and more techs are having to use computers and diagnostic equipment to diagnose and run down the numerous problems that crop up with today's state of the art cars.

As always time is money. And time keeps marching on.
The clock is always ticking.

Maybe this might shed some validity on "tool box of the future."

I really don't think there's anything hilarious about trying work on the crates of today.

But time waits for no one.

Someone will always disagree with tool box of the future.

Well, my 1960s, '70s, and '80s toolboxes can hold tools just as well as a 2014 Epiq so I'm not going to lose any sleep over not having one. ;)

This is not to take anything away from the OP's new purchase, just a response to Mr. Joel.

Well, you have to admit the Epiq will be "the tool box of the future" for someone.

Respectfully

Total out of pocket 5341.00 and 41.00 of that is a charge to register the "loan" and serial number with the state of michigan.
Driver told me its a new thing for big dollar boxes

deal droke down

5k for box

41.00 register thing
zero payments zero interest for 90 days

Nice box! I'm a traditionalist though and I'd go for Snap On red, but still a nice box. BTW, I read somewhere (and NOT in a Snap On catalog) many years ago that Snap On was the first company to paint their tool boxes red, just some useless information for you all.
