I have tortured myself long enough, so today I put my deposit down on a pole barn :shocking:
Here's the details;
30'x60'x14', 4/12 roof rated @125mph winds 5' OC, 26 gauge panels with 40 year warranty, 5'x5' post 10' OC, 2 10'x10' insulated overhead doors installed, 1 walk thru door, 1800 sqft of 4" concrete with 1/2" rebar relief cuts @10', wainscoting, and insulation for the whole building. $25,000
As soon as they start I'll put up some picture.

Guess I better get off my **** and level the site out this weekend, should only take a few hours.

Last week I went and asked the electric company to get me some power to the property, guess we will see how long it will take them and how much this will cost me :willy_nil

Guess time will tell.

Finally decided to go with Superior Outdoor Structures out of Sapulpa.

Best price I could find for the options I wanted and was a complete package.

Looking West

I'm going back out there tomorrow to get the ground a bit more level before they start.

I got a call on Saturday afternoon that they were going to start to building on Sunday. They Started @ 7:00am on Sunday  morning and we rolled out of there at 8:15pm Sunday night :eyecrazy:

There was 3 guys and they only stopped for 15 minutes to eat some lunch. :shocking:

By 11:00am

By 3:00pm

By 8:15pm it was dark, so this was at first light this morning, @ 7:45am

And by 1:15pm this afternoon, the building was up.

As you can see I have some dirt work to do before the concrete and overhead doors go in.

If I had any clue :dunno: as to where to get fill dirt I would be set, since the property is 10 miles form any other town and 36 miles from any larger town, I'm going to be paying some money for it :yikes:

Dirt defies the law of supply and demand. There is an infinite supply of dirt but when you need some you have to pay through the nose to get it. If you have too much dirt you have to pay through the nose to get rid of it.

Hopefully some one in your area will have a pit going. Ask around. One of your neighbors may know someone in the dirt/gravel/sand hauling business.

Worst part is the building is on my father in laws property / our property. He gave us 50 acres but if I start dozing up part of it to fill the inside of the building he will have a cow, so the only way is to bring in fill dirt or sand, either way it ain't going to be cheap ...

So much for free property, always a catch.

If I did my math correctly I will need 134 yards of dirt in order to fill it in to the bottom of the 2x6.

So here's my math, a 30'x60'x2' = 3600/27 = 133.3333 ~ 134 cubic yards and if a standard tandem dump truck holds ~ 6 cubic yards that means I would need ~ 22 dumps trucks.

That ***** for me!

Congratulations on your purchase!

I'm curious as to why you didn't strip the topsoil/organics and level the site before building though? It probably would have saved you alot of time and money as the cut on the one side of the building could possibility have been used as fill on the other with some minor grading around the perimeter.

Where approx. are you at. Plenty of good rock/dirt suppliers in Sand Springs. I used to live off hwy 97 north of town. Mills truck and tractor is up on hwy 97. They haul anything you want.

Pstychologist - The property already has three fishing "Holes". Problem is, I don't fish.

JD 1138 - That would be one hell of a bunker to get that much dirt...

Trochu - I would have done that but my Father in Law said he would take care of getting the site ready. So when I showed up with the builders I was a little shocked, to say the least.

Scott r c - The building was built out in Jennings, on Hwy 51. Not sure what / whom is out in that area that can provide the services. Haven't had time yet this week to attempt to contact anyone.

Finally found someone to bring me some fill sand. I'm going to have him bring in 140 yards and I'll spread it out with the tractor. Hopefully the sand won't wash while it's raining and before the floor gets poured.

Finally have some progress to report.

Electrical stuff just showed up one day, about a month ago, this is what I found when I walked out there;

Just laying on the ground;

This was last week:

This is the panel I installed under the meter head:

And the panel I installed inside the shop:

Should have enough slots

Now it just needs to stop raining and I need to stop injuring myself

long enough to get the perimeter and sand finished so they can come and pour the floor.

Got a few more things completed in between all the rain and flooding, not to mention that pesky lightning :shocking:

Bought extra lug set and added it to the panel on the pole. One set to feed the Shop and one set to feed the house.

The pole panel now has all the wire, for now, until the house gets placed.

The shop panel is ready to start running wire and placing breakers.

Out of 100' of copper wire this is all I have left.

I already started to run some outlets but didn't take any pictures yet. So far I have 12 outlets installed and still need to put in 24 more and that's just the 110v versions along the lower part of the walls. I'm still needing some outlets at the rafters and 4 240v outlets.

Guess I better get busy, now if the dang rain would stop for a few weeks I could get some concrete.:willy_nil

They actually put the building up in 2 days, but since then it has rained and rained and rained. That was at the end of March. With that rain came the mud. So that has left us unable to get the concrete done. It will take at least 2 weeks to dry out, provided the sun comes out....

This will be MY area. The wife will not be allowed to park anything in there. She has a way of taking over whenever she gets a foot in the door. She will be able to park in the garage attached to the house when that gets done.

The house will be about 50' to 70' away and it is sitting on 50 acres, 800' off the main road, So I figure if I need to pee I will step outside.

At least it sounds good at this point in time.....

And I hope to have no more of those ****** problems later. I'm really tired of cleaning up after myself.

I have been trying, with no luck, on getting the ground rod for the shop into the ground. It seams I have hit a rock about 4.5' down and with all the mud I can't get the dang rod back out.

I'm pretty limited on things out there. It's to muddy to get a truck in there, I don't have a rope long enough to throw over the rafter to pull it up. My brother said to start digging, I told him to K.M.A. I'm not digging a hole 4.5' deep.

Anyone got any ideas?

I've pulled grounding rods out successfully with a hi-lift jack. Otherwise cut it off a few inches below grade, call it a loss, and drive in another one! :shocking:
Great looking shop BTW!

Thanks 65acode, I'll look to see if my father in law has one. I know I don't, none of my vehicles need one.

The Bike and blue ones are mine, the Mazda is my son's car. He parked them like that on purpose.

Anyone ever have the feeling their building is cursed and will never be built? :dunno:

The building was put up at the end of March 2015. As of today, June 2015, I still don't have concrete or the insulated doors installed.

My mother-in-law  say's that my shop is cursed. Before it was put up it, the area received very little rain in the past 5-6 years, since it was put up, it has rained nearly everyday. Heck last month was the second wettest month for the area since records have been kept.
A week after it was up I had 140 yards of sand delivered on a day it wasn't raining. Since that day it has rained.
Last week we had no rain, the ground tried to dry out and I tried to get the sand inside the building. Rented a skid steer and had some fun.

Also last week I get a call from the guy doing the concrete, he says they will be there the following day to do the concrete, had to tell him not going to happen, still needed to get the sand finished and put down some plastic.

I busted my **** all week to get the sand done and what does it do on Friday, you guessed it, RAINED!!!!!! and hard too. I went out there on Saturday to finish the sand and put down some plastic and I barely made it to the shop the ground was so dang muddy. :tantrum2:

So needless to say I didn't get the sand done . I can work on it this week after work but guess what is in the forecast?

Yep, more freaking RAIN  and next week I will be on vacation and .........

I'm starting to think my mother-in-law is right and that can never be a good thing :wtf:

Now I think Mother Nature is just trying to pile it on.

We are forecasted to get over 10" inches of rain by Friday, hell the dang building will float away if that happens!

Finally got some time to post a few updates.

This what I started with on 6/11/15

On the 20th I took a week vacation so I could go for a ride around the Branson area

On the 27th I spent the day moving sand, by hand :drink:

And as of today this is where I am at. I might be able to get the concrete done next week depending on how much rain we get this weekend

I had to give it up for today, I'm tired and need a beer

Leveling out that sand by hand? Now that is a job.

Mail boxes in brick or stone pillars are popular here. Every now and then I will see one that has been hit by a passing vehicle. No matter how hard they have been hit I know that the vehicle took the worst of it.

I wasn't able to get any equipment in there to help me move it around. The ground outside has been to dang wet, the tractor has been useless.
Had a funeral to go to this week so I'll get back out there and finish off the sand next week.

All our mail boxes and Headwalls have to be made out of stone or brick.

At least they bought the house. That makes it easier on me.

Man that reminds me of being on base in afghanistan and seeing the rain come so fast and hard that the road disappears, needless to say we saw many a car in the ditch!

Forgot to add these pictures form earlier this week.

The Sand is all moved on the inside. I hope to never see another shovel full of sand in my life :fingersx:

See all those footprints, they are all mine :willy_nil

Now I wait.

Sooner or later the rain will stop, the ground will dry and the cement can be poured......:p

I'm crossing my fingers, toes, and eyes. :bounce:. The weather has been HOT and HUMID, so hopefully the ground is dry enough to get a couple of trucks back there without them sinking.
The concrete guy called and said they would be out on Monday to pour the floor. I REALLY need them to actually get ur done, cause the door guy still needs to get that part done so I can start using it.

PLEASE, NO RAINING until the floor is poured......:bowdown:

I can't believe it, I finally got a few guys out to the shop today and they happened to bring a couple of trucks with them

And the finished product. I will have to give these guys some credit, it was over 110 with the heat index and even hotter inside. Yet they kept going until around 6pm tonight.

Already got a call from the garage door guy, he will be there to install the doors tomorrow morning. Once he is done I can start the process of making it my second home :bounce::bounce:

Added 12/5/18, can't seam to find the concrete pictures on my computers, so I removed the image links.

As of this morning I have doors....

And can you believe it, we got some serious thunderstorms last night and that is what all the brown stuff is on the side of the building, Sand that splashed up. I'm soooooo glad they did the concrete yesterday cause this rain would have set me back another 2 weeks.

Next item to go in is some lights :shocking:
