Yesterday I got the header on the posts up.

If having to put a header up 12' in the air isn't a pain in it's self try 2"x10"x20' by myself, in 105° heat

But I got them up

And today I finished up the rest of the header on the shop side and put up one joist to stabilize it a bit

This week will be spent digging a hole for the 6x6x16 to support the end of the shop header and putting up the rest of the joist hangers, provided I want to work outside in the 105°, 90% humidity.

I don't look forward to that.

Ok, I'm revising my goals for this week.

I'm not doing anything except getting the joists ready to be put up. It's supposed to be 100° + and 90 something % humidity all freaking week. Guess I'll just hide in the shade and wait it out. ;)

Great job on the property, but what a weather story! It's been 115F here the last 3 days but the humidity is only 20%( Which is high for here and I'm dying at work). Can't imagine working in the sun under your conditions for long!

Thanks rixtrix1.

I've been to Chandler AZ and I can deal with that heat all day long, but this humidity really takes some getting used to. I've been told " You've only been here 15 years, you'll get used to it eventually". I find that hard to believe :(

Little bit of progress today but at least it progress. :dunno:

Got the joist hangers up on most of it but a small problem, the ladders I have are a tad short, looks like I may have to rent a scissor lift in order to finish.

Well so much for renting a scissor lift to help with putting up the joists, rental company said the only scissor lifts they rent have wheels for use on concrete only. Told them I needed one that I could drive on a crushed rock parking pad, no luck.

So needless to say I started putting up the joists using the ladders and a BUNCH of lifting

But I did get 17 of the 21 joists up. Either I have completely forgot how much a 2x10 weighs or I've gotten old and weak :wtf:

Today I finished getting all the joists up and everything is coming together. Even removed a few braces so I can start on putting the perlins up tomorrow.

Friday I get to go pick up the tin and try to figure out how to get it put up there :dunno:

Got to the point where I could make sure I had enough room from the top of the trailers A.C. units to the bottom of the joists.

Looks like I have roughly 2 -3 foot, plenty of room :)

Also started to put on the perlins, going to use the trailers roof as a way to get up there, should make it easier :dunno:

Today's progress was tuff, the last couple of 2x10's that have been sitting in the shop for at least 2 weeks were still soaking wet and HEAVY. But all the wood work is done :bounce:

Also got all the perlins up and almost ready for the roofing tin. Just need to figure out how to get it up there :dunno:

So while I was contemplating how to do that, I put up some of the side tin. But since the heat finally got to me I decided to call it a day and finish the side tin tomorrow morning.

Minor update today.

Got the rest of the almond tin up and figured out, with the help of the father-in-law and his tractor, how to get at least 3 of the charcoal tins on the roof :bounce:

This week I should be able to get the trim on and that will leave the other 11 tins to go up next Saturday. If this plan works I should be done next Saturday :rocker:

The RV cover project has come to an end. Finished it up this morning :bounce:

Got help with the tin in the form of the father-in-law, his tractor and one of my friends :rocker:

Thanks, it does feel good to get it done. On to the next project.

The irony of it all, I was going to put up the cover for the whole length of the shop and extend it the additional 10 foot to cover the RV, but decided the wife would gripe about the extra materials and blah, blah, blah. So I just did enough to cover the RV.

This morning the wife finally came outside to check on the finished product and said "why didn't you go all the way to the end of the shop, this way you could have parked something outside and it would be protected".

Wow, why didn't I think of that?

Next up on the project board is a screened in back porch. Going to keep it simple and only going to be 10' x 16' . But I'm going to use cedar tree logs, guess we will see if I can actually do it ;)

I put an addition on the left side of my shop a few years ago and knowing my wife has OCD very bad it wasnt long before she TOLD me I needed to put one on the right side of the shop so that it looked uniform.
I just put a porch on the front, now I have to put something on the back.
