Hi all,
Just finally got somewhat settled in at the new home and now ready to get garage set up to my likings! First order of business is to get a compressor. I've been mulling over this for quite some time now and have decided to go with a 60 gallon 2 stage. I know this has been probably been asked a million times before so here goes. Now I've realy liked the Quincy 60 gallon and is priced a little more than the Harbor Freight 2 stage 60 gallon which I've seriosly considered. So here's my dilemma I have a real hard time spending that kind of money at Harbor Freight by the time it's all said and done that compressor is going to close to a $1000 the Quincy would be about $300 more any insight into the two of these compressors. Anybody have either and could share there thoughts and possibly help make my decision? Thanks in advance!

Which Quincy are you looking at? Do you have a link to where you plan to buy it?

I'm in the same boat as you since my 25yr old compressor died but have been hoping for a deal on a used 2 stage. I've been looking since before Christmas and only found 1 deal but was not fast enough and missed it.

The current HF model is a single stage even if its advertised as a dual stage. The old HF 60 gallon units were dual stage. For the price mentioned I'm guessing you're referring to the QT-54. These use a V pump rather than the more powerful inline QT-5.

For that kind of budget, I'd recommend you hound Craigslist and find a used 60 or 80 gallon unit . . . .AND . . . build your own airline system in new garage from copper or blackpipe steel. Old quality compressors just don't wear out and snagging a great compressor when a guy has to move is great way to get bargain.

Does garage have all the lighting upgrades done that you want ?? Insulation adequate, or more to finish after lighting and rough wiring done ??

For the rough wiring plans, your 240v wiring run for compressor will be specific hard wired for the HP rating of what compressor you get. GJ Sparkies can give you specifics once you get close to final decision on compressor. Good luck.
