I nearly bought the long handle flex head soft grip 1/2" ratchet last week.

Glad I didn't. I missed these when they were available many years ago. Not this time.:rocker:

Oh man....time to spend money.

Are the soft grip shafts the same as the hard handle? Can I just buy the handles and switcharoo?

So they aren't all available yet. I've been posting about these since before SFC last year. I was told they would come out shortly after the show but they have just finally released the long flex head only.

This is also the first time that Snap-on has ever produced a hard handle Dual 80 1/2" drive ratchet.

The only part number that is available at this point is the SHLFD80A which would be black. Add R, G, Y, O, B, P, TL, PP, or PB for corresponding color.

The other 3 ratchets that have part numbers in the computer and will hopefully come out soon are:

SHD80A - Standard length (approx 12")
SHLD80A - Long length (approx 17")
SHFD80A - Standard flex head (approx 17")

Must...look...away...not gonna lie, the black oxide long flex head in 1/2 with black hard handle is a badass looking ratchet. I've seen pics on here before and wow. (Can't seem to find one at the moment). Lucky for me I don't need any more 1/2 flex heads. It also has the big ol USA on the head where everyone likes it at. This should make some people happy.

They still haven't fully committed themselves by putting them back in the catalog. I guess they figure as long as they're not in the catalog, they don't have to make them officially available.

Supposed to be fairly limited numbers, my driver had one of each and he said that is all he is getting. My wife got the pink one, I'm not a fan of handles on ratchets but they did look cool.

Those look nice. I’m sure I’m in the minority but I like the hard handles much better than the comfort grip. Just never could get along with the soft handles.

Here is the pic lugnut71 took on his dealers truck and a pic of an orange one that was on eBay last week. There is a red one on eBay right now for $219.95. 0140008ba5393b2ed0e3beba0dfc8cd0.jpgae4d83a8078f107a13ad32fca314d3ad.jpg

Even if it IS in the catalog doesn't mean they're committed to making it.
I am waiting on a FRX80A ratchet that comes up on my dealers computer as "new tool" that unavailable for him to to order, yet shows up in the latest paper catalog.

I'm with you on the "comfort" grip. Don't find them comfortable at all. Much prefer the hard handle. Going to have to flag down the snap on man.....
