The whole country seems to be covered in snow, and we are just getting our first snow coverage of the year. Only an inch or so, but still it's a start! Come to think of it, I don't know where our shovels even are.

I hears some parts of the east coast are getting or have gotten over a foot of snow. So lucky!

I can tell where the snow is just from where my orders are coming from...:)

I was thinking you must be in Illinois. It has been coming down constantly for the last few hours. It is hard to tell looking out a 5th floor window but it sure seems like more than 1" in the forecast.

Edit: I just saw the business in your signature. The last 12 months must have been rough. Hang in there!

We put our babies out to play with no shoes for an inch..sandals for a foot :D We got about 45cm (18") yesterday, thankfully my wife made me buy a snowblower a few years back and my oldest step son has taken an interest in using it. Daughter got stuck in the snow at the next corner...had to rescue her last night.

Seems the area beat the 1971 snowfall

It's in french but basically shows records we beat here in Montreal. "storm of the century" was in 1971 (I remember it because my Dad slept at the office and snowmobiles were used to rescue people in cars snowed in). Once the clean up is done though, it is really nice.

Enjoy your winters folks...it's here to stay!

I got the same snow blower as in the vid. the Home Depot special from over on 75th st! If people need more than a 2" ramp just tell them to get out of the street they weren't designed to go up curbs. lol

Yes, the business has been really down the last year due to no snow. Thankfully we finally have some snow again across the country.

We are going to be in lower michigan (dowagiac, mi) for new years, my brother-in-law is house/dog sitting for us while we are up there. I have heard they only have about an inch of snow. Not quite enough for the 6 kids and 6 adults to go sledding. We need more snow so we can all sled!

My brother's farm in NY had about 2' on the ground on Xmas eve. It was plenty to pull out my old sled and take a few laps around the fields, tho I almost got stuck a few times in deeper drifts. My Dad said last night theyre up to a bit over 3' now and hes clearing the driveways with the front end loader, piling up to ~6 feet worth of bank on each side.

We had about 6 inches the other night and they are calling for another 2-3 tonight. I'd rather have 32-29 degrees and snow than 10-12 degrees.

We got roughly 10" on Wednesday and are expecting another 2-3 tonight, figures we get nailed this year since I got rid of my Jeep!

We got about 14" yesterday, with 3" to 5" more coming tomorrow. I plowed for 11 hours yesterday and about 5 hours today...winter can end now...

Al Gore must be pissed because ya' have snow. According to him the polar ice caps are gonna' melt.

Just got off the phone with my buddy in central NY. Had about 18" on the ground. Most he's had in several years.

As freshmen in college we both went through a 2 1/2 day 109" snowfall blizzard in Oswego, NY Jan '66. Look it up, it's in the weather books.

I saw more snow in one storm than most folks in South Carolina have seen in their entire life.

The stories I can tell about that storm are lengthy.

I was driving my little Bolens 1700 w/ blower back to my house this morning after clearing out a coworker's driveway who's away for the holidays when an older gentleman flagged me down.

He was 3/4 done shoveling his driveway and had gotten to the 4' tall snow bank the municipal plow had put at the end of his driveway so I assumed he was looking for me to blow out the last little bit for him. No biggie, always happy to help, so I dropped the blower and engaged the PTO.

He starts waiving his hands and shaking his head "no".

Ok... I jump out of the cab and see what he's after. I get up to him and he asked "Hey, I was wondering if you could take a look at my snowblower". Well shoot, ok. I walk in his garage and there sits a brand new beautiful MTD with all the bells and whistles. He tells me he's had it two years and gets it dealer serviced each summer. It shows.

He tells me it turns over but won't start. I check for gas, check the plug wire prime it and hit the electric start button. The starter spins but not the engine. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between an electric motor spinning on it's own and a combustion engine turning over, right? I use the pull start and it fires right up.

Poor ****** had hand shoveled the 12" of heavy wet snow we got last night 'cause he didn't take the time to think through his problem (or didn't know that his machine even had a pull start) I felt pretty bad, it was embarrassing.

This is the second crapped out electric start I've come across this year. The last one had vibrated all the bolts loose and was hinging off the flywheel. I suspect this gentleman's is doing something similar. I offered to come back with some tools and take a look at it for him but he was insistent on taking it back the dealer. Oh well.
