Now that we've been in the house for a while I can start working in the garage to make it how I like. I made this rack over the weekend and I think it turned out great. I'm debating if I should make some doors for it. I love peg board!

Hey John,

You may just add some doors on the top but I would leave the cars/bikes on the bottom shelf open. A small bench top below your pegboard might come in handy.:)

Maybe paint the cabinet white. IMO:D

Nice job on your tool layout and pegboard.

Looking good.

Thanks! I do plan on putting a bench under the cabinet. I used to have a 2' x 6' MDF top bench that was 36" off the ground but I decided to do a taller (42") 8' x 20" instead. I think it'll work better in my garage since I'm hurting for space. I have some really good ideas for the rest of the garage but it all boils down to time. Though my garage is really small, I have more garage space than I do spare time! :lol_hitti

Some updated pics. I'm getting aquainted with my tools and learning how to do some very light fab stuff. Here's a couple of tool holders I made this weekend. It's finally starting to take shape!

Thanks! There's a couple of things I need to do to that socket rack. The nuts you see on the top are actually supposed to be on the bottom and the top counter-sunk and flush. But they weren't long enough so I need to get different ones. The plastic racks has counter-sunk holes, which is why the length works that way. I'll probably put some type of lip on the top edge and use the top for small shelf. I have lots of ideas but lack lots of knowhow. I love working with that aluminum stock from HD! :)

Real nice, I always appreciate seeing something fabricated over store bought, and you're doing a great job with your tool holders. I found your models interesting too, as my last bike was an RM250 with the Makita graphics and my son had a KX. Tom

Why upside down on the socket racks? You trying to buck the system young man?

...upside down ...socket racks...

:shocking:Heresy I tell you, HERESY!!:bounce:

(The villagers get out the torches and pitchforks!)

Seriously, your pegboard organization is excellent. I had mine looking like that too, but I find that my tools get all dusty. I use an electric yard blower to clean up but still.

I also like the model car display, but honestly in my garage they would probably get dusty and neglected. They look really nice in yours though. Congrats.

No, not bucking the system! :D I had them on their side so they'd protrude out and that worked pretty well. But that's when the top was 24" wide and I had top space to spare. Now that I reduced it to 16" I needed all the space I could muster up. I tried pointing them upward but they went all catti-wampus and pointed in all directions. This works well practically and for the eyes!

All the tools on the peg board are tools that I use often, with the exception of the SAE wrenches (5 Kawasakis, 1 Honda and 1 Yamaha vs. 1 Harley). With this bike arrangement, the Metric stuff gets used almost every day. :)

Now for my next trick, and before I can move to the other wall, I have to figure out a way to secure my parts washer to the top of my rollaway while still being able to use the drain hole. :headscrat

I'm stealing several of these ideas. I'm telling you now to clear my conscience before I fab them up and take credit for them myself.
