Well, my garage cleanup/re-org has finally begun.

In preparation for the 8' Craftsman bench and 52" box I ordered, I landed a decent score on CL in the 5 drawer rolling carts you see below. (3 carts plus the one rolling tool cart)

It started with these, which got a nice helping of degreaser before they officially moved in.

That gave way to this. Now, I realize there's a ton of **** in the front left corner of the garage, but once I can pull the Mustang out, it's just a spare box of the stock parts off the Lotus that'll end up in the attic.

My plan is to situate these rollers under the work bench so I don't have to worry about the flimsy add ons. :)

As you can see in the back ground of the picture, I've been stacking a lot of **** on both sides of my refrigerator. I'm so tired of tripping over my own stuff, or worse; spending more time looking for tools than actually using them, that it's about time I finally got around to getting organized.

Here are a few more pics from today. I apologize in advance for the crappy cellphone pictures.

A smaller concern was in making sure enough room remains for both cars to fit and still have a small slice of work space that doesn't require backing the car out. Sure, backing the car out gives me the most room (thank you captain obvious, I know), but in a pinch I should still have enough room with the car inside to knock out a quick this or that.

The incoming bench shouldn't be much wider than what you see here, so it looks like it'll all work out nicely.

Good score on the cl boxes...what is the red Bracket just to the right of the tail pipes on the lotus? A hitch? That's a cool tow vehicle.

It's a tow hook. Unfortunately, I know that from experience Ha!

They do make small hitch setup for it. I know of a few guys pulling small trailers for extra wheels and tires, etc... for race day, though. :)

Some smaller cabinets or racks hung up near the ceiling will give you more storage without taking valuable floor space. That'd be a good place to start and I see those cabinets on CL all the time for little or no $.

PS, Nice car...

Thanks guys.

@JC23: I've definitely been thinking about an overhead storage solution, so thanks for the tip.

Ordering and receiving the new tool box and work bench has been a little more of a hoop jump than I'd expected, so as soon as I can get it all in place I think I'll be in pretty good shape to start looking for additional storage solutions.

I honestly can't wait to get the stuff next to the refrigerator sorted and properly stowed.

It's funny, because even with only these cabinets in place, the space is already 100% more organized and usable.

As an interesting aside, I stopped by Sears today looking for drawer liners for everything. While I was there I was messing with the 8' workbench I ordered. Holy ****, a 41" height is much higher than I'd realized. I'm going to need a good sized stool to sit at it, otherwise the bench is almost chest high. (I'm about 6' tall.)

I can't wait to get it in, clear out the ****, and then turn my attention to the floor. (It's bare concrete.)

Can't help it...but the only thing I see when I look at those pics is red paint on the Lotus door!! I'd at least get a piece of carpet or padding to throw over the toolboxes when not in use!! Better yet..build another bay to store and protect the Lotus..then you'll have plenty of storage room!!

I've already had those same nightmares. (Truth be told, I thought I had more room than I did the first time I pulled it into the garage and opened the door into a box. No damage, thankfully.)

Padding is definitely on the list for those boxes.

I've been looking around to see about adding an additional 20X38 bay to the right of the garage. I have plenty of yard space to do it, so all that's left is to come up with the extra 35-40 thousand dollars to do it. :D

Here's the layout of the house and a picture of the yard to the right of the garage. I've since laid about 10 pallets of sod to clean up that straggly-*** grass you see. These pictures are from when we first bought the place back in August of 2010

I figure I can pull the basketball hoop out and widen everything. Then I can replant the basketball hoop further back and the bushes would stop the ball from hitting the street when I throw up some bricks.
